I had this card for years, and it was worth it!

4

I applied and was accepted for this card when I was a student at VT and it was by far the best credit card I ever had. I had this card forever and the rates where the best offered and the payments were easy going. If I could, I would continue to have this card, if bad fortune would not have hit. I would recommend this card to any new to credit student just starting out in the world. Bank of America will treat you right. Customer Service Bank of America always has good customer service. They are there for you even when there is no answer. I have had many ups and downs and they have always been there to help me out in my time of need. They always do try to keep a customer and not only that, but keep a customer happy. Available Rates The rates I received on this card was by far the best I have ever received by any credit card, ever. This is surprising considering it was one of the first cards that I got, way before any credit was really established. They evaluate your case yearly, which keeps things fair.

The Bank of America Student Platinum Plus  Visa Credit Card is a basic no-frills credit card that will appeal to the part-time or full-time college student who is just looking for a basic credit card to start building their credit history. To apply for this card, you need to be either a part-time or full-time college student attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college. You need a minimum income of $200 in monthly income after rent, tuition, utility, and food expenses are paid. No cosigner is needed. The Bank of America Student Platinum Plus Visa Credit Card is a pretty basic student credit card. If you are a college student looking for a credit card, there are a couple of cards that are better than this one. some cards that allows you to earn 2% cash rebates at supermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores, and utilities.  There is no annual fee. The APR is prime rate plus 10.99%. The average daily balance method (including new purchases) is used to calculate monthly balances.

Earn rewards, cash, or miles with BofA Platinum WorldPoints Visa

i started with bank of america when i was a student and wanted a simple credit card. after nine months, i asked them for a rewards card. they gave me worldpoints. basically, you get one point per dollar, and can redeem for merchandise, miles, or cash. recently, i wanted to move over to a 1% cash back card from another bank, but it ended up being more of a hassle than it was worth. one caveat- to get your worldpoints cash to equal 1% cash back, you need to redeem at 25,000 points or higher. in addition, one other reason i keep the bank of america card is because of the awesome portfolio management software their site has. it's better than any other free site i've seen. it will pull all your online accounts, track your investments, categorize your expenditures (you can even add categories and it will learn them), manage your frequent flier miles and other rewards points, and pay your bills (well, with your money). you can also run reports on your spending and saving habits. it's a great tool for people who want to know where their money goes.

Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa helped restore my credit...

4

Prior to Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa I was a college junior with poor credit card experiences. I payed down a credit card that I had to use for text books and its interest rates kept increasing month by month; causing my debt to increase, and hurting my credit score. I was contacted by a not for profit, the National Society of Black Engineers, asking that I sign-up for Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa and in return the company would make a donation to them. They offered a 0% interest and $0 charge for new account balance transfers, and 4.5% APR after my first 3 months. There were no hidden fees, I received everything in writing within a few days and often contacted Customer Service before deciding to sign-up and had surprisingly positive feedback regardless of the question. They truly impressed me and were just what I was looking for to get away from my (then) present creditor as soon as possible! I have been with them for 5+ years now and am still very happy with their services. When I had problems with fraud or being overcharged they quickly researched the problems without charging me interest on those amounts in the meantime. They quarterly check to see if my interest rate can be lowered and have also done so with me calling and asking. They have increased my limit periodically as well causing my credit scores to increase, and are constantly adding new cost saving incentives. Overall I am exceedingly pleased with my Bank of America's Platinum Plus Visa! While they do offer Cash Back Rewards, it is only on certain products from certain retailers, and some of those purchases must be made through their "Add-it-up" website and then the retailer of your choice. A slight hassle, but the benefits out weigh that for me.

Bank of America lied to me about this card.

I just started my bank account with Bank of America a little less than 2 months ago. I'm fairly happy with them but for this one card. The teller that signed me up told me it was really easy to qualify for this card and it helps you build your credit. My dad told her that he wouldn't sign for this credit card so I needed to do it alone. The teller then went on to say that I didn't need a co signer to get this card. So a few weeks later I get a note from Bank of America saying that I do not qualify for the credit because I do not have enough credit and I need my parents to sign on the card for me to get one. Which I figured in the first place but the teller from Bank of America had told me otherwise. So I went bank to the bank to talk to this teller and she said that of course I had to add my parents on to my card because I never had credit. Which is completely different from what she told me while in the applying portion of the card. So my advice to any student trying to get this card who has no credit, get your parents to sign on with you for the card if you can.

Simple and Useful

I got the Bank of America Student Platinum Plus credit card several years ago.  I had no credit.  I don't have any idea what the "Platinum Plus" is all about; it's nothing special.  There are no rewards associated with the card.I have had no complaints with this card since the day I got it.  I use it for nearly every purchase I make.  I've never gone over the credit limit or missed a payment, so I cannot say how well they handle those sorts of circumstances. The thing that is most important to me about this credit card is that there is no annual fee.  I see no point in paying for something that I can get for free.  It has allowed me to build credit and take care of my bills without having to worry about how much more money I'm going to have to spend.Overall, I have to say the Bank of America Student Platinum Plus credit card was what I needed when I applied for my credit card.  I may not stay with it much longer, as there are cards with rewards associated, but it has allowed me to gain credibility in the banking world to a point that I may be eligible for one of the "better" cards.

nothing special to do to get $$

The visa rewards ard gives 1% back on purchase(s).  They round down so expect to not get $12 a year.  It is easy to request hek and there is a running total of $$ earned on the bill. It is a no annual fee crd.  I had my 'numbers' used last year and they were very good at restoring the dollars from charges I did not make.
