I recently watched this series again for the first time since it originally aired on HBO. I remember loving it then, but I think I fell in love with it even more after I watched it again. Perhaps this is because I'm older now and can better understand the subtle nuances in the story line and how much effort was put into the production of "Band of Brothers."

I think this might have been one of the most historically accurate war movies, let alone WWII movie, ever made. Apparently, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and the other producers let each of the surviving men of Easy Company look at the script...

On September 9, 2001 - the Sunday night before the dreadful events of September 11 - subscribers to Home Box Office got their first glimpse of Band of Brothers, a monumental 10-part miniseries about the true story of an airborne infantry company during World War II's Northwest Europe campaign (June 1944 - May 1945).

Based on the best-seller by the late Stephen E. Ambrose, Band of Brothers was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks (who had worked together in 1998's Saving Private Ryan) as a tribute to the real-life members of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne...

My husband borrowed this series from a co-worker.  I was so involved with this series that I would stop everything that I was doing to watch because it would pull me in and wouldn't let me go.

First off, the acting and directing is supurb!  They are sneaky and get you involved with the characters before you know you are a goner.

The events were as close as can be when depicting the war and real time events during WWII.

The WWII veterans that give their commentary throughout the episodes would just fill and yet break my heart.

The Disc set is laid out nicely through the series.

Now, I'm going...

I am not a person who is big on violence, but I must say that I really liked this show. As it spans many hours, you get to really know the soldiers. You really feel something when you see them hurt: emotionally or physically. Sometimes it is truly difficult to understand the brutalities of being out there fighting for your life, but you get an idea by watching this. Through this series, you are able to hear the actual people who you watch in the episodes recount their experiences, you are up there on the front lines with Easy Company seeing the destruction of war, you also see a soldier's life...

If you've seen Saving Private Ryan, then imagine what that would be like in the form of a TV show, and you get Band of Brothers.  This is one of the best TV shows of all time, with an amazing cast, and a couple of amazing directors: Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.  If you're a war movie/action movie buff, go buy this on DVD or even better, BLU-RAY!!!

Band of Brothers is so  realistic with its battle scenes that  it  made my father and his friends who are WW2 vetrans tear up with its realism . It has also taught my children more about this war than the schools have, the bonding of men who fought to save not only this country but also the world.

This is by far one of the best tv series ever. It will give you a whole new appreciate for world war 2 vets. After watching the series, I found myself looking for as much information on the airborne paratroopers as possible.
