Easy and fun to use!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We just purchased this item as a Christmas present for our 10yr old daughter because she loves to cook and make breakfast sandwiches ad we thought this would make things much easier for her.  It's so simple to use that she can do it by herself now after only be instructed a few times.  It's easy to clean and make a really great breakfast sandwich!  You can also use it to just make an egg and bacon if you want!  (that's what my younger kids always use it for)  It's simple and easy to clean, just wipe it out when you're done and unplug it.   It takes about 5 min to make an entire sandwich, but I don't think that's much longer than if you were using a small pan and...

Can you say perfect appliance???

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I bought this toaster because even though I do not personally like eggs my kids love them.  This is the perfect thing to have in the kitchen.  I make sausage patties in advance throw them in the freezer and in the morning we just crack an egg, put it in the pan, make the toast and warm the sausage all in one easy step.  You no longer have cold food waiting for the other elements of your breakfast to be done.  It all cooks together and viola when it's done to your specifications the toast pops up.  So you have your eggs, sausage and toast done at the same time.  As I tell everyone "this is the PERFECT appliance for every kitchen!"

Still in Use After 4 Years

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

The title pretty much says it all...this toaster is economically priced, has plenty of features, and won't break after the warranty runs out. We've used it at least once a week for four years and it still toasts fine.

It's easy to clean (although this isn't normally a problem with toasters).

As far as the egg-making features, it was really cool to use at first, but we don't really use it much any more. It's got a lot of tiny hard pieces and it only makes one fried egg or four hard-boiled ones. It does work perfectly, though. I think I might use it more if I were just making breakfast for myself and not my family too, and if it were easier to clean and didn't have as many parts to track down and reassemble.

It broke after four years...I guess that's not a bad run.

I cannot live without this toaster

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I love egg sandwiches and had to have this toaster when I saw it.  I got it for Christmas last year and love it.  It is so easy to use.   Just add water from the measuring cup, put the egg in, add canadian bacon or precooked bacon, and put in toast.  All you have to do is push the button and wait until it is done.  The eggs are perfect everytime.  I also use it to make hard boiled eggs.  I get perfect hard boiled eggs everytime.  When I got this, people made fun of me but after showing them how well it works, I have had a few friends buy it.   I save money by not going out to the fast food places for their egg sandwich.  I also save calories since I use use Pam instead of butter/oil.  This is a great toaster/egg maker.

I love it.

The Back to Basic Muffin Maker is an all in one. You use bagels, bread, for the outer of the bagel. Simply put in the toaster part of maker. You put a little water in for steam to cook the egg, that you will then put into a little tray, bust the yoke. If you wish to have meat you cook ahead of time or buy precooked, then place it in the holding tray, which sits right on top of the eggs tray. Push the appropriate button( wether you are doing and egg and meat or just egg), then push down the toaster knob. Very simple to do. In about 5 minutes all is done. Then you just have to dab any extra water from the steam off the egg, and put it all together.

If you must have one more thing on your counter top, this is it!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

As I hinted to in the Sound Bite, this is a great product by a great name in cooking. I only have a issue with the fact that it's yet another item to have on your counter top! I don't know about you,but if I have to put something away after every use, I may never get it out again! You really have to "pick & choose" your "counter dwellers" & IF you're a breakfast fan or a poached egg & "egg mcmuffin" fan, then this is for you. It cleans up fairly easy & works well every time I've used it. But if you're only a "weekend warrior" of breakfasts, it's not for you. Remember, choose very carefully when you're picking a "permanent counter dweller"..........there's only room for the best!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this Paula Deen toaster/egg maker. We use this a few mornings each week, and there is nothing better than a piping hot egg, anyway you like it, paired with toast or a bagel, or an english muffin, and some canadian bacon, ham, turkey, or just some cheese! The toaster works great, with toast level controls, can accommodate varying thickness' of bread, bagels, waffles, english muffins, etc. The egg maker can poach, hard boil, and cook your egg anyway you want it. Toss a couple pieces of precooked bacon, canadian bacon, turkey, ham, cheese or whatever you like and it will heat it up and all together create an easy, quick, super tasty breakfast on the go. The possibilities are endle...

Good just to have a little more then a toaster.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We needed a toaster.  My best friend and I had a toaster but it broke a couple of moves ago and we didn't have a toaster for about 2 months when we first moved here about 4 years ago.  I saw this one (a white, Paula Deen branded one but this one nonetheless) on clearance at Walmart and bought it on clearance for 25 dollars and got it on impulse.  I liked the thought of boiling eggs without having to heat up a pot full of water.  He didn't like that it only had 2 slots.  I went on Amazon and read comments about making an egg muffin and eggs with the toaster and taking a shower while it did it's thing.  I liked the thought of that and used the cute little frying p...

LOVE IT!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I picked up one of these Back to Basic Toasters a couple of months ago and so far LOVE IT! It makes great toast, although the toaster wracks could be a little wider. My texas sized toast sometimes gets stuck in the wracks. The little pan that makes eggs is really neat. It makes a mean little egg circle that fits perfectly in a biscuit! The egg cooking option does take a little longer than if you did it on the stove in a regular pan. But it works fine, if you have time to wait. My kids get a kick out of cracking their own eggs in the tiny little egg pan. For the price, this toaster works very well for our family. Its easy to use and easy to clean. Overall, its a good product. I would recommend it.

Good for single meals

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

The Back to Basics egg and toaster machine Isn't bad if you're making a meal for one person. However as a family of 4 It is easier and faster to pull out the egg poacher and the four slot toaster to get everybody feed at one time since your all eating at the same time as a family. Now when the kids get home from school and want a snack it is wonderful. My 5 year old thinks it's the best thing in the world to make his own egg mcmuffin as he always calls it even though it isn't made at the restuarant.I recieved it as a gift, and we do use it but it takes up space where ever you put  it. And unless you have a $500,000.00 home with the space on the counter or cabinet I'd rather get rid of it.

Best breakfast FAST!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The Back to Basics Egg and Muffin Toaster is so much better than your regular toaster.  The wide slots are great for bread, bagels or my favorite english muffins.  What makes it better is that this toaster cooks an egg and warms precooked meat while the bread toasts.  Literally a perfect complete breakfast in less than 5 minutes.  Imagine, an egg, meat and english muffin breakfast sandwich in less time than it takes to scramble an egg.  As if that's not enough it can boil up to 4 eggs at one time.

This is basically a regular wide slot toaster with a cooking tray on one end to cook the eggs.  Simply load your bread in the slots, place water in the cooking tray, ...

Great for Toaster Sandwiches

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I recently purchased a Paula Deen Egg and Muffin toaster for only 35.00 from Walmart. This multi-function toaster allows you to toast an english muffin and cook an egg at the same time. it is also able to warm meat, but I usually do that in the oven or microwave.

The toaster has 2 extra-wide slots (one for each half of english muffin). There is a small pan that looks like a mini frying pan in the front. You simply add water, crack your egg, put on the top, and the toaster steams your egg and toasts your English muffin at the same time.

I have been in a hurry before and forgotten to add water to the egg cooking portion, and I've forgotten to spray the pan before. These are both easy to make mistakes that cost a lot of time in clean up and hassle. Considering the amount of money you save from going to McDonalds (or another breakfast restaurant) for breakfast, I think it is a good investment.

Quick way to make breakfast.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I've used this for a couple of years now. It's pretty handy to have and a really easy way to make breakfast when you're in a pinch. It also has a removable attachment so you can heat (cooked) meat while the egg is cooking and the bread is toasting. Add a slice of cheese and voila! Instant breakfast! If it's just for you this guy is great, but for two people there is a 4-slice version which is also handy.

My main complaint is that it is HARD to clean the egg poacher portion. You can't immerse this in water and that part is not detachable. The metal has developed a rust or brown filmy covering of some sort (so now when I do boiled eggs the bottom of the egg will turn brown). Other than that I am very happy with this guy.

This toaster is average.

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I bought this toaster thinking it would be a great way to make a quick healthy meal in the morning for myself and my children. However, I quickly saw the error in my thinking when I saw how long it took to make one sandwich. Much faster to just pull out a griddle and cook 4 at a time. This toaster can only cook one egg and two slices of bread at a time. There's no way to have a family breakfast because one person is done eating before the next sandwich is done. It's also hard to clean all of the little egg pieces out of the egg cooker portion of the device. Also, this toaster takes up much more room than the average toaster on the cupboard. On the plus side, it does make great sandwiches and it is really easy to operate. Just one push of a button and one slide-down of the toaster lever and you're on your way to a great tasting sandwich.

Bulky but Simple

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

The Back to Basics TEM-500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice toaster is a great toaster for anyone who is rushing to get breakfast done in the morning while trying to get to work or school. The actual toaster is easy to use, due to the special one button cooking the toaster has. It is also easy to clean, which is very handy for when something slips in the toaster. It is very good for anyone looking for a great breakfast in the early morning or while they are late. However, there is a problem for families trying to make breakfast. The toaster is very, very bulky and takes up space. It also takes a while for the toaster to toast the bread. Since it is a 2 slice toaster, its not exactly good for families. It is a good purchase though.
