I am a first time mom and my son is teething. People have suggested the teething tablets. What is everyone's experience with them or what have they used to help the terrible teething tantrums?

i've tried them only a few times. i did notice that he fell asleep afterwards. i lost tracked of them and never used them again. So, i really don't have an opinion on them.  my son got his teeth in spurts, four or five at time. i've used orajel a little bit but he went through a stage when he didn't like it.  i would recommend trying both and see what works best. I also bought one of those fresh food feeders and would put some ice in there. he loved that. good luck!

I used the teething tablets occasionally when my son Timmy was having teething discomfort--especially with his molars coming in! They didn't cause him to become drowsy, but they did seem to alleviate some of his pain. They melt on contact in his mouth and are so miniscule that he couldn't choke on them. When I used Orajel, he was miserable--it really burned his mouth.

I only use baby ambesol or orajel, the teething tablets made him sleepy which i did not like. Also try a frozen washcloth! :o) That is always a winner for my son!
