Hi, I hope that Im over reacting but my little girl is just over two weeks old and appears absolutely fine 99.9% of the time however, this weeks, after taking a bath she started to move her upward in a strange frozen like position for a couple of seconds. During that time her neck became stiff and she lost her ability to cry. After a couple of minutes she was completely normal and was able to complete a long feeding without any trouble. Has any parent experienced the same thing? My wife and I are a little worried because it happened twice already and we have no idea as to what is causing it. We thoerize that the water might have warmed her up and after crying her brain cant take too much stimulation, wild guesses like that. If you have any experience with this or have heard about it please let me know as it would be gratfully appreciated, thank you.

I wouldn't panic but would call her doctor to be on the safe side. It kind of sounds to me like a gas bubble but really other than being a mom I don't have any medical knowledge. Congrats on that little girl. Jo

I agree with Jo, especially regarding the not able to cry and stiff neck, you definitely need a check in with the pediatrician. Those are rather alarming symptoms -- and after 4 kids and 15 years teaching it's what I would advise any of my parent friends.

Another thing you will want to do is start to keep track of the circumstances that surround the incidents if they occur again.  This will give you the ability to tell the doc exactly what was going on.  Things to keep track of include baby's eating habits, your eating habits if you are breastfeeding, sleeping habits, what was happening just before, and what happened and for how long.  I would suggest finding a notebook you can write these kinds of things down in.

My little guy went through some sezure like activity when you was younger but it was something that he grew out of.  Check with the doc and he/she can refer you to a pediatric nuerologist if there is a concern.    Usually with circumstances like this they will get you in rather quickly.

can you get a video of it for the dr? Every one has given you good advice. WHen our baby was that little we always had the camara next to us and would take little videos here and there. It may be more helpful for your Dr to see exactly what is concerning you.

I would definitely check with my pediatrician--it's always good to be on the safe side and consult an expert.

I would check with the pediatrician just to be on the safer side. Itz better to err on the cautious side when itz related to babies!

I would definitly check with the pediatrician. I would want at least an explanation even if nothing is wrong.
