Baby Trend Travel System (all fabrics) —

My children are 8 years apart and things have changed a lot in the world of baby stuff.  When the new baby came along I went in search of the perfect stroller/travel system.  Perfect, meaning tall enough that I don't have to hunch, LARGE storage basket, easy to maneauver, etc.  I have to admit that I was initially attracted to the Orange Oak system because of the color and design.  But I tried it out and compared it to others in the store.  It was on the lower end of the price range, which was good.  It was one of few that had large baskets.  I can fit a large diaper bag, my purse, and shopping bags/coats in it.  The handle is adjustable to different heights, which is great, and even folds away.  The parent tray has two cup holders and a closing storage compartment for keys, etc.  When folded up it stands on its own.  The back of the sear reclines almost to lying down.  And the child tray flips up for easy ins and outs.  And it is quite maneauverable, although it could be better.  For the carseat, the sunshade is very large and has come in handy several times to keep the sun and rain off the baby.  The handle is easy to grab.  And the strap adjustment system is nice, without having to rethread the straps.

Okay, now the cons.  The seat and the stroller are more narrow than I would like.  Makes it easier to get through crowded stores I suppose, but not much room for the kid.  It was easy to assemble, except for the parent tray, which was near impossible.  The carseat is VERY heavy and sits really high in the car--we sometimes have trouble banging our hands on the car trying to get it in.  The latch release is under the FOOT of the seat, which is sometimes a pain. The method for folding the stroller is tricky and could be made much easier it seems.  The flipaway snack tray is already broken, even though I've only had it for less than 6 months and we've never used it except for holding the carseat on as designed.  The little peekaboo window on the stroller shade is basically useless--it's not in the right position at all to actually be able to see the baby through it.

All in all, I'm probably neutral about it. I don't know if I would buy it again.

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking for a new travel system after a few years, too, and was considering this one. Unfortunately, sometimes, especially with these big ticket baby gear items, you just don't know what it's like until you have to live with it for awhile, so I appreciate your taking the time ;)
