My children are 4 and 2, and my oldest is just not ready to be walking full-time when we go to places that require a long stay (the zoo, the amusement park, etc). I had a double stroller made by Graco and it was like pushing a tank. It was awkward to turn, heavy and my 4 year old hated having to sit in front of his sister because she was always kicking him. I decided I needed to do something about the discomfort we were all experiencing from the stroller. I purchased a Baby Trend Sit N Stand.
I purchased this stroller at Babies R Us, and used a coupon so it ended up being a great deal. I think I paid around $100 for it. I tried it out in the store and asked my son if he would like having his very own seat that he could get out of when he wanted. He tried it out and loved it.
The first time I tried out the stroller- I had a hard time getting the canopy off. I put it on, and found that it only covers the person in the front and it's not very big. It works for shielding the sun, but if it rains- it's not very useful. It also bumps my son in the head on occassion when he is sitting in the jump seat, but it's nothing that I would complain about.
This stroller folds so easily, that it almost seems to easy. It's also very lightweight for a stroller and I can easily pick it up and put it in the back of my Geo Tracker. With my previous stroller- it was so heavy that I struggled to get it into the back. The only complaint I have is that you have to take off the front tray as well as the canopy (unless the back of your vehicle is bigger than mine) in order to get the stroller to fit. The front tray isn't hard to remove, it's just kind of annoying when you need to get the stroller put away in a hurry. As I mentioned earlier, I still struggle with the canopy removal.
There is a small cushion on the jump seat, but it spins on the seat since it's only anchored by a piece of velcro that wraps around the seat. I found that this works ot my advantage. We were at a local fair over the summer and it started to rain. My son wanted to get up and look at something, and when he did- the cushion slid underneath the seat (but it was still attached). When he was ready to get back on, he showed me that his cushion was missing. Since it had slid under the seat, it was still nice and dry for him to sit on!
If you have a newborn or infant that you need to tote along with you, there is also a bar that comes with the stroller. It attaches to the front so that you can place your baby carrier right in and take baby with you. I have had no use for that piece, so I can't give an accurate description on whether it works well or not. I do like the idea that you have the option of using it, or just using the seat. This really is a stroller that can go through the ages and stages with your children.
I only have one other complaint, and it's something every parent usually complains about when it comes to a stroller: THE BASKET! The basket on this stroller is quite hard to get to. Your child has to be out of the jump seat, and the front seat pushed up instead of reclined. Even then, you don't have much room to get to the basket. The basket is kind of small, but that's something I have learned to deal with in order to get the rest of the amazing features.
The stroller has a parent tray- HOORAY! There are 2 cup holders, as well as a middle compartment. I usually throw my change purse (along with my drivers license and any credit cards I may need inside) and cell phone into the compartment. It fits perfectly and my cell phone stays dry in the event of rain.
The handle on the stroller is not movable, so you have no option on how high it is set, but it's at a comfortable level for me to push, and I'm only 5'5. My hands aren't sore when I'm done pushing the stroller either, and I have no caluses. That was a major issue with my Graco. It was so heavy that I was using my hands to steer and push, and they were paying dearly for it.
In conclusion, this is a great stroller. It has made my life so much easier and now I am able to go out on my own without kids complaining they are being kicked, or whining that they have to sit in the back. For the price, you really can't beat it. Not to mention that my 4 year old loves having the independence to jump on and off the stroller when he needs to. Oh yeah, there's also a strap which can secure your child on the jump seat should they need to stay-put. I feel safe and secure using this stroller and it's probably one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.
