doesn't work long enough

2

Although I feel this product DOES help in some ways, I also feel it's not enough. For a teething baby, they are in discomfort most of the time, which would mean having to apply this every 2 minutes throughout the day which is not logical, nor affordable. I personally tried this product. I applied it on my gum and it did tingle and become numb, which is the point of this. Having said that, after about 30 seconds, it wore off. After my personal experience, I realized it's only working on a child for not even 1 minute. It could certainly help in the most uncomfortable times for a baby where nothing else soothes them and take the edge off but like I stated, what do you do after that 1 minute? Overall, Orajel makes very kid-friendly products and is a trusted brand. I know from using this product and from reading into it and the packaging, it is safe for babies and causes no side effects.

Works wonders for teeth coming in

5

This has worked wonders for my son everytime i just stick on his pacifer and he is out like a light with no pain to irritate him from his incoming teeth coming. There is no need to get the teethers or anything and its natural i love it!!!! I recommend it to all my friends that are brand new moms and single parents at the daycare i work at and i have never heard a negative comment about it. The only bad thing is it wears off fast but you just go when its on sale which i see regularly at the grocery store and buy a couple tubes and next thing you know teething is all finished and the little pearly whites are in and the baby is happy yet again.

Baby Orajel can help with teething pain but use with caution

2

My children have had LOTS of pain with teething. I have spoken with several parents who say that they did not even realize that their kids cut a tooth. My kids have always made teething a memorable experience, and I feel for you and your child if you are in the midst of this tough time. **Baby Orajel** is topical (placed on the skin, such as the gums) benzocaine and is used as an anesthetic. **What I like about Orajel:** - Works quickly--the baby tends to stop crying within a short period of time after application if the pain is related to teething - Easy to find--it is often available at stores with a pharmacy section and sometimes in the baby section as well - Available in different strengths (stronger strength for nighttime relief) - This worked much better than teething tablets that I tried--those made my child SCREAM (they have caffeine and can aggravate reflux) - Available with applicators (but these are more expensive)--can use a cotton applicator or your finger if you don't mind a numb finger - The last time I checked, Baby Orajel was gluten free (I would suggest that you contact the manufacturer to be sure because manufacturers can change their formulations often.) - I believe some people may use this product on adults on gums amd other areas that they wish to numb **What I don't like about Orajel:** - It is not effective for pain related to other issues--sometimes it is hard to tell exactly why a baby is crying. All three of my children have had colic and reflux, and I found that they all have multiple food sensitivities and changing their diets and getting them on Prevacid helped tremendously. - My pediatrician mentioned that Orajel can actually toughen the gums and prolong the teething process. - This small tube of medication is pretty expensive (but only a SMALL amount is needed for application) - Benzocaine can have severe side effects, including breathing problems and even death. This medication will absorb through the skin and can enter the bloodstream. I would highly suggest discussing options for control of teething pain with your pediatrician first before using any product such as this on a baby. Orajel should not be used on anyone with a blood disorder called methemoglobinemia. **My Viewpoint:** I became desperate when searching for help for my crying babies and found **Baby Orajel** to be effective for some pain control related to teething. However, **Orajel** does have some possible serious side effects, including breathing problems and even death. I found that using Tylenol (cherry flavor for infants) and cold teethers tend to be effective for teething pain with fewer possible side effects and therefore cannot recommend this product because of the risks of serious side effects unless your pediatrician specifically encourages you to use this product.

Orajel Teething Swabs are great!

I love Orajel Products so when I saw these teething swabs I knew that I had to try them.  My granddaughter was cutting her first teeth and she was really cranky, so I picked up some of these swabs and I was hooked. She quietened down a few minutes after I swabbed her gums with one. I like the fact that these are very easily transported in a Diaper bag vs. lugging around a bottle of some sort of teething medicine or a tube, which can easily get squeezed and spill the contents inside. I would highly recommend these swabs to any young mother or grandmother. The product does what it claims to do and Orajel is a trusted brand. I have used their teething gels with my own children and they have always worked better than any other brand that I have tried, so I trusted them enough to use with my granddaughters. I would, however like it much better if there were more of the swabs in a package. But all in all, I do recommend them.

the best for teething baby

5

this product is really great, and the very best relief for a teething baby. the design is interesting, in that you snap off the end of the q-tip looking thing and the medication is inside the cylindrical piece, it gradually filtres down to the tip and then can be applied to the baby's teeth/gums. this provides instant relief, and my 7 month old son really likes the ease of this product. the other varieties of oragel require you to put it on the q-tip or your finger yourself, and this results in a lot of wasted medication. this relieves his teething pain quickly, and he usually falls asleep very quickly after because these oragel teething swabs are so effective that his pain is gone within a few minutues. I would reccomment these to my family and friends, and continue to buy this variety. they are rather expensive in comparrison to the other varieties, but again, there is a lot less waste with the swabs.

I love it!

I started to buy this stuff for my daughter when she was a baby.  She is nine now and I still buy it.  We didn't have any really bad times with teething or anything, but once in a while it bothered her.  The medicine was hard to get onto her gums, because she was a fighter.  She still is too.  I had some tooth aches and I also had my wisdom teeth removed when she was very young.  I used it on myself.  I worked so well.  The medication works right away!  Iy numbs it for a while too.  I loved how easy it was to use.  You hardly had to put any on.  It seems like it takes a long time before you need to buy another tube of it too.  I always have a tube ready to go in my medicine cabinet.  I love it.  It is worth every penny if takes away teeth and mouth pain.  It works on all sorts of mouth pains.  My daughter used it when she bit her cheek.  I honestly just keep on buying the baby one to and not the regular formula.

Baby Orajel provided Relief for my baby

I like the convenience of the swabs because at the time (when his teeth just started growing in) it was easier to apply. It wasn't messy at all, I'd just break the tip and then I had to wait for the gel to absorb into the other part of the q tip and boom I was ready. However, he hated it, I know it taste bad.  I remember when I tried it and I felt like part of my mouth got injected with Novocain!  It's unfortunate that it's short lived, not lasting long at all, so I wouldn't constantly use it. It also stinks that you only get a few in the small box. Thank goodness his teething episodes weren't bad, Tylenol would get the job done (too bad it got RECALLED!!). Plus he would always chew on a cloth and that worked too. Overall, Orajel is a good product, it works very fast. Although as a recommendation I wouldn't just rely on it alone.

Orajel teething swabs are great for a teething baby/toddler

4

We discovered orajel teething swabs when my daughter was young.  We were searching for anything to ease the pain when we went on vacation and left our orajel gel at home.  We came across these and decided they were perfect for keeping in the diaper bag.  We later discovered it's great to keep one or two in my purse, in the car, diaper bag - anywhere we might me.  Both of my children have allowed us to use them initially because of the novelty of them, they investigate while the liquid drains into the tip then easily allowed me to put them in their mouth.  Because of their size i think I can be more precise with the location of the medication and effectively dull pain without numbing their entire mouth and throat.  It works quickly and lasts long enough for ibuprofen to kick in.  My biggest complaint would be the amount of time it takes the liquid to drain into the tip, otherwise I would highly recommend this for any teething child.

Baby Orajel keeps my baby comfortable!

4

My son has been working on his first tooth for what seems like MONTHS!! He is constantly gnawing on things and putting things in his mouth, he is a drool MONSTER and all the other typical signs of a teething baby. He hasn't showed too many signs of pain too terribly often, but when he does, I help to ease that pain by giving him just a little dab of Baby Orajel. This stuff really seems to work! I just squeeze a very small amount onto my fingertip and then rub it into his gums and he is instantly satisified and in a better mood. The Orajel has a slight bubblegum flavor/scent, which intrigues him. I also like that it only takes just the tiniest little bit to ease the pain, not a lot of it is necessary - which I appreciate as I like to keep the medications that he recieves to a minimum. Overall, this is a great product. I can't say yes it 100% works or no it does not 100% work since I've never personally used it for relieving pain, but judging by my sons actions and reactions to Baby Orajel I think it's pretty safe to say that this product works!

Orajel is not the teething relief I would use for my baby.

I have a twelve year old and a 15 month old, so I'd like to consider myself an experienced parent.  With my 15 month old, we are still going through the teething stages.  At the moment, it is the incisors and let me tell you, she is a DROOL QUEEN which is one of the main reasons I really dislike Orajel.  It is very hard to apply a gel to a little one's mouth when they are drooling like a leaky faucet.  The gel seems to get swallowed or misapplied very easily.  This leads to more use, so while the product is priced about right, you use more of it than necessary.  Even when I do think it may have actually made it on the intended location, it doesn't seem to provide her relief.  Furthermore, it is apparent that she does not like the taste of it.  Orajel can be of some help to other mothers, but in my family it never worked out.  We opted for a homeopathic tablet solution instead that worked wonders.
