Baby Einstein Videos/dvds - great for keeping baby entertained

Baby Einstein DVDs and Videos are excellent learning and entertaining tools for babies and toddlers.   Even older children can enjoy them.    We have many of the DVD's, and my toddler's favorite is Baby MacDonald about farms and farm animals.    We also really enjoy the Classical music videos, such as Baby Mozart and Baby Bach.   Our local library has a number of the videos from the series that can be checked out.   If you just want to check out the videos without committing to buying anything, try your local library or borrow one from a friend.    I do personally believe that watching television/videos really shouldn't be encouraged for young children, but I think the Baby Einstein series provides a wonderful alternative to regular TV, and should be used in moderation.   The rule in our house is no more than one video per day.   We try to save it for times when we're desperate for a way to entertain or calm baby.     It's also important to have as much parental involvement as possible while the child is watching.    You can simply talk to your baby about what you're watching, or use the Baby Einstein puppets to go along with the videos.
