This is the perfect way to travel with a newborn. You can strap them on and away you go! The good thing is that they can sleep in the carrier and you can use your hands. In the beginning, while their head is still fragile, they must face inward. Over time, and as their head strengthens, you can face them outward so that they can see the world as you do!
I like that the bijorn is black and simple in style. I am not certain whether or not you can wash it in the washing machine, but spot cleaning and hanging to dry seemed to work perfectly fine for me.
The first time I used the bijorn it was a little confusing and it took a few tries to get it comfortable. Once I got the hang of it, however, it is super easy to use! (WARNING: first time parents may be worried that they need to use both hands to carry the baby and unstrap the system. Dont worry-- your child will be fine!)
I personally preferred the bijorn over a sling. My husband, however, was not a fan of the bijorn. I dont know if height matters (5'8"), but perhaps that was part of his problem with it.
