Being a terribly nostalgic person and one who feels memory is everything. Being a writer and one who loves the preservation of all things in life- I could not even imagine what this is like.

The one who loses all memory and reason, and idenitity must experience a tortorous hell of confusion, fear, confliction, pain while the one who has to witness their partner or lover go through this affliction, suffers incredibly too.   It is a very real disease and my heart goes out to those who have people in their lives suffering from alzheimer's.

This was a movie theme that hit close to home for my family. Our Mom has Alzheimers' and even she watched the movie. Her comment, "Yes, it's like that." The movie offers a clear depiction of the family  affected by this deteriorating disease. I would have liked to have seen a more in depth expression of the views and experience of the person(s) suffering with the disease.

I think the movie is timely for many baby boomers. I know many people who I've sadly shared the experience with. Perhaps this movie will stimulate more interest in finding a cure for the disease. It is heartbreaking.

Julie Christie is moving in her portrayal of a woman, gradually losing her identity to Alzheimer's disease and the story of her husband's loss. The only aspect of the movie that was somewhat dis-heartening was the portrayal of the other residents of the facility. Unfortunately, alzheimer sufferers can be angry, aggressive and at times combative; a more realistic depiction would have been more effective.
