Avon Magix Tinted Face Perfector —

Avon Magix Tinted Face Perfector

I use and like Avon Magix original Face Perfector since it was introduced however, there are those moments when I don't feel like applying my Bare Minerals foundation for coverage and color so I decided to give the Magix Tinted Face Perfector a try.

I've been using it for a few months and it seems to be working well for me. I chose the Light and Medium shades so I could achieve the correct balance for my skin tone. The shades are quite forgiving and blend easily onto the skin. I could use either one alone on my light/medium skin tone and they both look fine. Neither one too light or too dark, the Light shade is good to apply around the eyes as it blurs away darkish circles but it won't help in completely covering them if that's what you're looking for. I also think this may not be for every skin type, it might not be right for for very very oily or very very dry complexions.

The mirrored compact comes with a soft applicator sponge which I do not like. The sponge is not of poor quality, I just don't like the way it applies this kind of product, no matter who's brand it is.  Instead, I use a good quality foundation brush which does a much better job of smoothing it on. The sponge seemed to leave streaks and actually moved the perfector around more than necessary, which didn't make any sense.

I find that using a light hand is best when applying Avon Magix Tinted Face Perfector, if you need more, build it up slowly as this could look masky if you use too much. I say if you want more traditional coverage, use a regular foundation or concealer that has more pigment for better results. This product is used primarily to even-out and perfect your complexion before applying the rest of your makeup. It reminds me very much of Smashbox Compact Anti-Shine only with pigment and is a lot less expensive.

My Take on Avon Magix Tinted Face Perfector:

This is a good quality item, it does what it says it will which is...hold back shine*, visibly minimizes pores with patent-pending Optix Light-Diffusing Technology, smoothes complexion and adds a subtle hint of color. It costs $10.00 on Avon.com but like many of their items, can often be found at special pricing such as a BOGO. I also like that the sponge (for those that like using it) stores underneath keeping it away from the surface of the perfector which helps keep the product clean. It also has SPF 15.

*My one gripe would be, it does not hold back shine for almost 10 hours as Avon claims. I haven't found a product yet that can do that without having to touch up at some point therefore, I'll have to give this a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
