Avon Holiday Train Case —

Although I will soon be in need of some Avon items that I buy regularly, I decided to place an order well beforehand so I could take advantage of a great deal on the Avon Holiday Train Case.

I travel a few times a year and have yet to find the perfect sized makeup bag for travelling.   My makeup arsenal includes several Bare Escentuals containers, lip glosses in tubes, an eyelash curler, and brushes with long handles.  It's not tons of makeup but the items can be bulky and do not fit into those little makeup bags that resemble an envelope with a zipper on top.

The Holiday Train Case is $25 but right now on Avon.com you can get it for only $4.99 with a $5 purchase.  So I ordered a bunch of Glimmersticks, some eyeshadow and lip gloss I didn't need, and the train case which turned out to be the perfect size for my cosmetics.  It measures 8 3/4" L x 5 1/2" H x 4 1/2" D and has two zippers that zip all the way to the back so that the top flips wide open.  There is also a zippered compartment in the lid that is perfect for long-handled brushes and small things like jewelry or eyeliner pencils.

When I first got it I thought it was a little soft without enough support and firmness. But now that I've used it a few times I like that it is flexible as I can get it to fit into my suitcase or overnight bag.  When I typically think of a train case I think of the old hard blue traincase my grandmother used to bring to our house when she'd stay over night.  But this train case is small, soft, and the perfect size.  It sort of reminds me of the toiletry cases that you see advertised for men with the flap that zips wide open, but it's smaller and obviously designed for women as it's feminine and flashy rather than just utilitarian.

The only complaints I have about the Avon Holiday Train Case is with regard to the straps and the price.  The decorative straps with buckles on the front get in the way when I'm trying to zip the case closed.  It wouldn't be nearly as cute without the straps so I'm glad they're there but they are a bit annoying.  The price is also quite high.  I got it on sale in a big way but it's not worth $25.  I'd pay $10 or $12 but $25 for a vinyl case is over the top.  I would not expect too many of these to sell at $25 and would not be surprised to find them at a clearance price after the holidays.  Get it now while it's on promotion or wait until after the holidays.

Great review. I have this too and the straps are annoying, but I still like it. Not worth $25.00... Good buy for 4.99 and yes it's cute..:)
