Quick View: These are very harsh and tend to burn my skin. I don't recommend these pads to anyone.
My Experience with Avon Clearskin Cleansing Pads
My son discovered the traumas of blackheads and breakouts when he turned 15 last year. He noticed that his previously baby smooth skin wasn't so smooth anymore. Luckily, he didn't have major acne but, now and then, he would break out with a pimple and come running to me because I "have stuff for everything". Well, he was right. I did happen to have Avon Clearskin Cleansing Pads for my occasional breakouts (You know, the old lady hormonal type). I bought these on sale and used them very rarely. The pads smell strongly of alcohol and were too rough for my dry skin. Although they claim they are for normal to oily skin, I think they would be best be used on oily skin types and not on those with normal, and especially, dry skin. My son's skin is combination. He used the pads per my instructions, after cleansing his face at night. He said his face stung and burned. The next day, he said his face felt tight and gross. (His words). He continued to use these pads, which you are supposed to use morning and night, only at night for three nights but hated the smell, the texture of the pad and the sting. He saw no improvement in his problem areas and neither did I.
When I used them, they stung a bit and they dried out my skin. But I have dry skin to begin with so that is to be expected. My occasional breakouts seemed to take their time fading away and I didn't notice any change when using the pads than when using my regular face cleanser or my Tea Tree Oil cleanser which is a bit more heavy duty. These pads are inexpensive - under $4.00 for 42 pads when on sale (and they're always on sale) but neither my son nor I saw a difference in our problem areas and both felt the pads were harsh and drying.
My Viewpoint
These pads didn't work for me and they didn't work for my son. They stung and dried out both our faces. The Salicylic Acid, which is supposed to be excellent for breakouts, didn't seem to help either of us. My face was taut and dry after and my son's face felt "gravely" and dry after using them. Our problems were neither cleared up nor diminished by using these pads. If you have very oily skin, these may help you more than they did us. I don't recommend using these pads on normal or dry skin and I definitely suggest you use caution if they sting or burn. I can't recommend these as I saw no benefits. 1 star.
