Avon Beyond Color Lip Recovery Cream with SPF 15 —

I didn't need another lipstick.  I only bought  About Avon Beyond Color Lip Recovery Cream because I was placing an online order and needed to spend $4 more to get free shipping so I popped one of these lipsticks into my cart and checked out.  Big mistake.  It's pretty much the most gross lipstick ever made - it smells and tastes exactly like dill pickles on rye bread. Blech.

Avon Beyond Color Lip Recovery Cream is available in the following colors: Cocoa, Creamy Nude, Luminous Nude, Luminous Rose, Merlot, Peachy Cream, Twig, Divine Wine, Golden Rose, Pink Charm, Soft Lilac, Uptown Pink, and Luminous Sheer.

Beyond Color Lip Recovery Cream with SPF 15 is a 2-in-1 Healing Lip Treatment & Full Satin Color. Moisturizing satin color that treats lips to the care they need, but with a true, full-color satin finish. Replete with the "Moisture Lock System," to seal in hydrating allantoin, jojoba oil, vitamins and beta carotene, it keeps lips smooth and soft.

About Avon Beyond Color Lip Recovery Cream is hard to apply.   The lipcolor comes up from the tube into the bristles on the brush which is on top of the tube.  But the bristles are a bit too long which makes application hard.  The bristles flop around so it's more like basting BBQ than defining your lips.  Not pretty.

And then there's the dill and rye effect.  As I applied it to my lips I was breathing thru my mouth and tasted and smelled this lipstick at the same time. It smells and tastes just like dill pickles on rye bread. It's very distinct and strong. Luckily it wears off in about 20 minutes, but it's really hard to get past and makes me wonder just what the heck is in this lipstick that makes it taste and smell so awful at first.

The color is quite nice and creamy.  I usually have problems picking Avon colors as it's hard to pick a color from a brochure and be sure that the actual product will be true to the color in the brochure. I got lucky with Twig though, in that it's exactly as I expected it to be. The lipstick is creamy and soft and feels good on my lips. I haven't noticed any drastic recovery in their condition, but it hasn't worsened any either. It is not especially long-wearing, but it is not marketed as long wearing. The finish is slightly glossy.  This lipstick has SPF 15 which is always a good thing.

Yuck, dill pickles on rye. Who wants a cosmetic to smell or taste like that?
