Quick View: Many people are raving over the new Avon Anew Clinical Plump & Smooth Lip System. I'm not. I don't think it is any better than any other lip product made to plump and smooth lips. I saw no plumping and just a minimal amount of smoothing and softening of my lips.
Full View: Avon keeps on coming up with new "Clinical" products but none really live up to their hype for me. Avon Anew Clinical Plump & Smooth Lip System is a plastic dual ended tube with lip plumper on one end and hydrating moisturizers on the other. Avon makes big claims but I really haven't seen any changes in the size or smoothness of my lips.
The Product
This .2 ounce plastic wand has a grey end (plumper) and a white one (smoother). Step one is to use the lip smoother around clean, dry lips – not on them. It is white and smooth but slippery. In just a few weeks, lip wrinkles are supposed to be reduced, deep lines filled in, and lips are supposed to look more youthful. I don't exactly know how this is supposed to happen when you apply the stuff around the lips, not on them. Step two is the plumper. You apply this on the lips and it is supposed to immediately make lips look firmer and smoother. "Over time" you are supposed to see your natural lip color restored and your lips should feel more "cushioned". I don't know how MUCH time is supposed to pass before this happens. The applicator is tricky to use with a middle ring that you need to slide down than you have to screw a little wheel until the product comes out of the tiny holes. There is no flavor or any particular scent that I could tell.
My Results
Um…none. I didn't see all these improvements that Avon reports and that some women I know seem to see. The stuff around the lips is hydrating but there are others that are better. The plumper isn't really lip plumper. It's supposed to restore the youthful color of your lips and make them "cushioned" over time. I didn't feel or see anything when I applied it. It is slippery and white and doesn’t stick on my lips. Maybe I am missing something but, for $25.00 for 1/10th of an ounce of each product, I expect SOME results after three weeks of twice-daily use. I saw none. I saw the studies and I read the claims but, for me, this product isn't necessary or very effective. I'm disappointed because some women are raving about it. I guess I will keep looking for lip products that keep my lip area and lip line youthful, smooth, and defined.
My Viewpoint
I wanted to love Avon Anew Clinical Plump & Smooth Lip System but I don't even like it. I feel as if I am wasting my time (and money) using it. I bought mine new on eBay for $13.00. It sells for $25.00 on the Avon site. I don't feel it is even worth the $13.00 I paid. I just don't see any changes in my lip area and I prefer thicker balms that last on my lips. For me, this is a 2 star product but I am aware that some people love it. I invite a reader who does love it and sees improvements to write a review telling us about it. I would like to know what I am missing!
