Avon ANew Luminosity Ultra Advanced Skin Brightener —

Ultra.  Advanced Brightening. Patent-Pending. Exclusive Skin Retexturizers. Powerful Pigment Inhibitors.

This product is marketed with so many superlatives, I was half expecting it to airbrush my face into a glossy magazine version of myself.   More realistically, this skin brightener does help to fade blemishes and scars caused by acne, hormones, aging, sun and environmental damage. However, in my experience, it did not live up to its hype.

I am a woman of color, over 45, with slightly oily skin and occasional breakouts.  Because of this I have some residual scarring from old acne blemishes.  Avon had a buy-one-get-one-free sale, so it ended up costing me about $11 apiece for each jar.  Not a bad price for such lofty promises.  I decided to give it a try.

Avon promises that by Day 1 "you will see luminous and brighter skin"; by Day 7 "you will see skin discolorations fade", and by Day 14 "you will have flawless skin."  That's quite an impressive list of promises, but they didn't exactly come true for me.

First off, the formulation is a bit greasy, so I could only use it in small dab on scars; not on my entire face.  Second, even with selective use, it tended to slightly irritate my skin.  If I had used it all over my face, twice per day as recommended, my skin would have felt like it was on fire.

Ultimately, Anew Luminosity Ultra Advanced Skin Brightener did not brighten or transform my skin with 14 days.  However, it did work to visibly lighten some scarring from old blemishes much more quickly than older fade creams I've tried in the past.  I don't know if the discolorations will return after I stop using the product, but it did work for me in a limited way.  For that reason, I do recommend giving it a try.
