I used an electric breast pump with my first child and with my second child, my friend talked me into trying the Advent manual breast pump. I was extremely hesitant because I always felt a Medela was better. I was WRONG! The breast pump is extremely fast and efficient. Because I can do it by hand, I can stimulate the sucking action of a baby. Also, I am able to use it anywhere because I don't have to plug it in, or provide batteries for it. In the past, the battery option tended to go through batteries very quickly! Even though the electric ones have different speeds, it is more rhythmic...
review »This is THE breast pump to own. First of all for the price you can't go wrong! I have used this while pushing a stroller to the park. Beacause it is silent you can use it anywhere! I've had a high end electric breast pump, but it was loud, and uncomfortable. I hated using it because I couldn't do anything- talk on the phone, watch TV, nurse baby etc. because it was so loud. The best time to pump is when nursing because you can multi task and get two things done at once, but with a loud electric pump it was very disturbing to baby! But the Avent manual breast pump is quiet, and I was always surprised...
review »I bought this Avent Manual Breast Pump because it was inexpensive and had pretty good reviews. I didn't expect to ever really like this product, but I do! It is very easy to express breast milk using this product. It is also pain-free, which is one thing I was worried about while using a pump.
Since the bottle parts are also included, I have had no problems with the bottle leaking. I have bought more just like it, too!
I would recommend this pump to anyone for occasional use. (If I were pumping everyday, I sure I would need an electric pump, just for the ease)
