The Avent Breast pump is the best manual breast pump on the market.  Don't be afraid of the price- it is well worth the price and is a great value.  I also rented a hospital grade pump to use because I had a 26 week preemie and was able to pump for 8 1/2 months.  I used this pump on the road and at work.  Very easy to use, milk let down was very quick and able to express milk almost as quickly as the electric rental.  Very easy to clean, just rinse and use the Avent microwave sterilizing bags - pop in the microwave and 3 minutes later -- clean and sterile - ready to use again.  I would highly recommend this pump and would use it again in the future.  I did try a few other pumps but their were difficult to use and let-down was much more difficult than with the Avent.  Highly recommended.
