On Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil the guitar work redeems most of the flaws, with both guitarists being shred machines, who can outplay most other contemporary metal bands. Their fluid, blistering sweep picking and neo-classical tinged soloing gives Yngwie Malmsteen a run for his money, and their dual-guitar harmonies are nothing short of Iron Maiden-esque. The vocals aren't bad and it seems that with this album, they've paid homage to classic metal by really dedicating time to their instruments, and putting a lot of thought and variety into the music.     Avenged Sevenfold is the next big thing in the "heavy metal" scene.  Kids are seen wearing their clothes and dressing like them all over America.  Why even bother with these clowns?  I'll start with the most important aspect of any band, the music.

    Their singer, (Isn't his name Rev?  Reverend?)  has a samey voice for every song.  This comes with a massive ker-duh, but many singers do not have the same tone of voice for most songs.  The guitar work on the album comes with much praise, even from haters, but I find it flat out distasteful.  The drop D melodies and chugging rhythms...
