Over the summer, I developed a bad case of eczema on the back of my neck. I don't reaslly know how it started. What I do know is, at it's worst, the itching when I was wearing a shirt and tie was unbearable. I was also itching terribly when playing sax and using neck straps. My wife and her visiting sister told me that my neck was very, very red. Aside from that the skin was dry and had a leathery feel.I stopped going out in the sun in T shirts and I was using aloe vera gel morning and night, with only limited effect.

I saw my dermatologist, who prescribed a steroid-based cream. I needed something for in between times as I was only supposed to use the prescription cream twice a day and was supposed to reduce to once a day when the eczema got under control.  but also suggested that I use Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing lotion at in between times and more once my eczema came under control. The CVS pharmacist recommended the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion.

I had remembered Aveeno as a soothing product when my son was little and had chicken pox, so I knew it would help. I actually used the $25 gift card from CVS for a new prescription to buy a couple of bottles of this and one bottle of body wash.

The activie ingredient is Dimethicone (1.3%). The inactive ingredients include oat kernel extract, oat kernel flour, and oat kernel oil, among others. The oatmeal is supposedly what makes the Aveeno products soothing.

I've been using the product for about 3 weeks now, I use the prescription cream once a day and applu Aveeno a couple of times a day in between as needed. My skin has been feeling better almost since I started. cerrtainly the prescription creme moderated the inflammation. However, the Aveeno has moisturized my neck skin and kept it from reverting to being dry and inflamed.

So, I can recommend this product. it's on the expensive side at $8 per bottle, but it has done what I needed.
