Aveeno Daily Moisturing Lotion —

I asked at the pharmacy why so many lotions made me itch, and she said that it probably was the parabens that caused the problem, so I started trying products that did not have parabens. And ever since , I check ingredients for parabens. This is one of the few products that does not have parabens, and since I started using Aveeno, I have had NO problems. I love it. It goes on nice, and blends in quickly, so that your hands are not greasey feeling. I would give it 1000 stars if I could, it has been a lifesaver for me.  I haven’t tried Aveeno products in the past, but I got Aveeno Moisturizing Lotion, Itch Relief with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal as a gift during the dry wintertime. My skin gets dry, so I welcomed the opportunity to try a new lotion.I stumbled across Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal at Alan's house (My boyfriend). I saw the .8oz tube upstairs at his mother and fathers home. Alan's mother is allergic to Vitamin E. This is one moisturizer that does not have vitamin E and is fragrance free. She also is allergic to fragrances as well and cannot wear perfume as a result this is what she uses and has for the past year. She is seventy years of age and has no dry skin due to the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal

my best friend used Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal as well. He lives right on the beach and with the salt air and sun you need to keep your skin moisturized. His skin is moisturized and never dry from using this lotion. Unlike some people that stay in the sun and their skin is dried up and flaky. His is not he is thirty-six years old and has smooth skin.

I flip up the olive green lid pour out the white cream with a very slight scent of nothing, which I could point a finger on. I start to massage into my arms and legs the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal seems to dissolve quickly into my skin. For hydration leaving no greasy feeling just pure moisture to my body, the same moisture I get from the Aveeno Positively Smooth Moisturizing Lotion but with a fragrance

Appearance & Packaging

The package has a very natural and earthy appearance. The bottle is mostly a cream color with a deep green color cap and printing. On the background of the front is a drawing of a plant (oatmeal?).

The appearance of the bottle seems to be making the statement that this is a natural, earthy product. Nothing flashy or artificial looking.

The cap is at the bottom of the container, and is a flip cap. I had no problems getting the lotion out of the bottle. The way it sits, the lotion collects so that it is ready to be dispensed.

The bottle claims, “ Helps prevent and temporarily protects chafed, chapped, cracked or windburned skin. Protects irritated skin. Relieves dryness.

This is an 8 oz container, which is a pretty fair amount. I would expect this container to last me a while!

Aveeno products are distributed by Johnson & Johnson

There is an expiration date crimped at the top of the container, which I appreciate, since many beauty products tend to hang around much longer than they are intended!

Scent & Feel

The scent and appearance of this lotion are both interesting. The smell is almost indescribable, and is very vague. The front of the bottle declares that this product is Fragrance Free, which I definitely see as an asset to this lotion. Therefore, the scent must be attributed to the ingredients. It is difficult to describe the scent, but I would have to say it is reminiscent of milk, grain, almonds, etc. Very “earthy”.

The lotion is white, although not a concentrated white (more glassy). The consistency is very smooth and creamy. It doesn’t seem like there’s any greasiness to the lotion.

The Aveeno Lotion

I used this lotion after showering, with my legs being the focus since they’re especially dry in the winter. I also hear that putting lotion on after showering “traps” in more moisture (who knows if it’s true).

The lotion is very smooth. I don’t need to use too much lotion when I’m applying it. It smooths into my skin fairly well. Once I have applied it, and leave it on for a few minutes, there isn’t much of a “residue”, in terms of being able to tell that I’m wearing lotion. There’s very minimal stickiness, and no greasy feeling.

There is no noticeable scent that lingers after the lotion is applied, which I am pleased about.

So how does my skin feel? The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion soothes my skin. It leaves it relieved of tight, winter skin. It greatly reduces (as well as eliminates) the appearance of scaly, dry skin.

I don’t have any adverse reactions to this product. There was no itching or other irritation. The bottle does say “Dermatologist Recommended”, so it makes sense that this gentle product would be gently soothing.

Ingredients

Active Ingredients: Dimethicone

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Oat Flour (Avena Sativa), Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride

I was very surprised to read the ingredients and discover that there are so few additives and chemicals in this product. I feel like when I look at most labels on beauty products, I see a slew of un-pronounceable or recognizable ingredients.

Animal Testing

I always try to be aware of which companies partake in animal testing or not. Regardless of whether or not I can choose which products I’m using (as in this case, where I get a product as a gift), I like to be an informed consumer.

Unfortunately, Johnson & Johnson does perform animal testing, as a company. This product in particular may not have been used in animal testing, but one does have to decide if they want to support a company based on the information. On another note, it would be wonderful if more companies that don’t test sport a no-testing label on their products. (It issomething to brag about, after all!)

Price & Where to Buy

I got this lotion as a stocking stuffer gift, so I didn’t actually purchase it myself. I checked it out on drugstore.com though, and it’s selling for about $5.99. I don’t buy a lot of lotions, because people know I love anything watermelon or melon scented, so I have an incredible amount of lotions! I have to say I usually don’t pay much attention to Aveeno products in the store, but after using this one, I’ll be keeping an eye out.

I would say that this is a fairly good value for the price. There is a pretty good amount of lotion in the container, which will last a while.

Overall

My favorite things about this product are that it contains a minimal amount of ingredients, that are fairly natural. I appreciate the fact that it is fragrance free, nongreasy, noncomedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), and gentle.

I don’t have anything negative to say about this product. It isn’t as natural as something like Burt’s Bees, but it far surpasses many beauty products that are on the market, saturated with chemicals, unnatural elements, and fragrances.

I find that Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion is a refreshing change from so many products. This is the first Aveenoproduct that I have tried, with excellent results. This brand tends to go unnoticed in my trips to the store, but after my experience with this lotion, I will definitely pay more attention to the Aveeno line of productsI think that the scent of a lotion is just as important as the lotions ability to moisturize. Come on now, ladies, more than often if I am shopping in a beauty store or department, most of you have the lids off those products before you even know the products’ name. I know I do. We all have our favorite scents and no matter what the cost or quality, if it doesn’t smell good to us, we don’t buy it. So, what about scent-free products?

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion does not have a scent. When applying this lotion, it reminds me of poorly sweetened oatmeal, a sickly scent but soon after applying, the scent is gone. I like to use these kind of moisturizers when I want to wear my own scent, a perfume, and sometimes scented lotions combine with a perfume and the outcome can be ugly.
