Dry Frizzy Hair

1

I've been getting my hair dyed at the Aveda hair salons using only Aveda hair color. I was recommended to use the Color Conserve Shampoo and Conditioner. I must be an optimist because I thought the shampoo was working well until it was so dry and frizzy. It was tangled and knotted horribly. I had breakage and I just refused to believe it was the Aveda products. Until I bought John Freida's shampoo for dry frizzy hair and it miraculously looked better in one wash. So as much as I wanted to be an advocate of natural Aveda products they ruined my hair. So disappointed.

Not good for bottle reds.

Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo does not do a good job at preserving and protecting the color of bottle/dyed red hair. Effectiveness I used this for my bottle red hair hoping that it could help protect the color. I had luck with another Aveda brand product for preserving the color to my bleach platinum blonde hair, but I had little luck with this one. Bottle red hair is notorious for having the color bleed out when you wash it, and some shampoos (not this one) help prevent excessive color wash out. It felt really stripping and left my hair feeling dry. It did not preserve my hair color at all and I was highly disappointed. I would not recommend this product to someone trying to stretch the length their bottled red hair. Scent I really like this scent. It is not fruity or floral or super feminine like most shampoos. It has got a really nice fresh, clean scent. The smell also lasts a while after washing out the shampoo which is pleasant.

Aveda Color Conserve

My hair has been hi-lighted and colored for the past eighteen years. I have used many shampoos and conditioners to help maintain my color. I used Aveda brand shampoo for about three years. I loved the smell of Aveda Color Conserve shampoo. I thought it smelled natural and lathered very well. My hair always felt very clean and fresh after using this shampoo. Aveda Color Conserve shampoo did a good job at helping my color last longer, but I also found it dried out the ends of my hair. My scalp on the other hand was not dry. It maintained the color but felt like it didn't work well with moisturizing the ends where the bleach from hi-lighting had damaged it. My husband did not like the smell of this shampoo, but I loved it. I think this shampoo is made with quality ingredients that won't strip the hair, but it is priced high per ounce compared to other available color protection shampoos available.

I recently tried this shampoo and became a true believer!

I had never used an Aveda hair product before, but I decided to try this specific kind after I was just unhappy with all the other color saving shampoos on the market. Anything I found in a regular just was not working the way I wanted it to. I bought this shampoo and it was a little more expensive than I normally want to spend, but I had some extra money from Christmas, so I splurged. I am really glad I did. Not only did my color stay in longer, my hair looks great. It is shinier, fuller, and softer than it ever has been with any other shampoo product. I am now a full fledged, true believer in this product. Back to the color issue. I used this shampoo over the course four weeks. Usually at about four weeks, my color starts to dull (I wash my hair every other day) and I can see it is washing out, permanent or not. With this shampoo, I noticed that after four weeks, my hair color was still bright and shiny, with not a lot of color loss. I am really happy with this shampoo and it is definitely one that I would recommend to my friends and family, especially if they color their hair.

Disappointing - left hair dry frizzy and stripped of moisture

1

I like several Aveda products, so I assumed I would like their shampoo for color treated hair. Unfortunately I was disappointed that it left my hair feeling dry, stripped and frizzy. I spent much more money than I usually do on shampoo, so I wanted to give it a fair shot, so I used it several times, hoping it would produce better results after a few uses. But the more I used it, the worse my hair felt and looked. I started using it on freshly colored hair to see how it protected the color and the first few days I did not notice a difference in the shade of my hair. But by day three or four, I could already see that my hair color was beginning to fade. It was also stripping all the shine and moisture out of my hair. The matching conditioner was of no help either. I had hoped it would add back some much needed moisture, but that was not the case. I went so far as to use a deep treatment hair conditioner after shampooing, but that too was unable to add back the moisture this shampoo stripped out of my hair. It took weeks of using another brand to get back to were I started.

Aveda color conserve shampoo

I found the Aveda brand on line a few years back and after reading such great reviews, I decided to buy a bottle of color conserve shampoo. The shampoo is quite pricey, but I decided to treat myself. I bought the big one liter size since it was the best value. I like the scent of the shampoo and it cleaned my hair well but I did not feel like it was anything better than less expensive color treated shampoo that I buy. Since I did buy such a big sized bottle I continued to use it until it was finished but I did not buy another bottle since. I felt like the shampoo made my hair a little flat and even though it is for color treated hair it did not maintain my color any better or worse than other brands of color treated shampoos. I overall like the Aveda brands but I feel that they are quite expensive and since they do not offer any kind of sales I would only buy something if I read about a product that I might want to try and buy it as a treat.

Keeps my hair color looking great!

Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo was recommend to me by my hair stylist after I had my hair highlighted at the salon. I was so glad my stylist told me about this product. It is not cheap but it does do a fantastic job at protecting my hair color. I have found that my highlights continue to look shiny and bright for a long time after getting my hair highlighted. This shampoo also really gets my hair clean without drying it out. My hair looks and feels soft, healthy and shiny. My color is protected and continues to look as good as it did the day my hair was highlighted. The shampoo works into a nice lather and rinses out completely. Another plus to this shampoo is that it also helps to detangle my hair. I have fine hair that tangles easily. I have found since using this shampoo that my hair does not tangle as much and is easier to comb. Effectiveness This shampoo really does deliver. It gets my hair clean, protects my hair color and gives my hair body and volume. Scent This shampoo has a very nice scent. It is light and fresh smelling.

Great shampoo

Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo is one of the best shampoos available, but it is also on the more expensive side. I only buy this once and awhile or ask for it as a gift during holidays. I have long, thick hair, and this shampoo does a great job of keeping my hair clean and shiny. The shampoo does not make my hair oily at all. The color conserve part of the shampoo is also important to me since I have color treated hair. This is gentle enough to use on my hair daily, and it helps keep the color looking vibrant. It does not dull or fade the color at all! I really like the fact that this shampoo is natural, so I don't have to worry about the chemicals that may be harmful in this shampoo. Effectiveness This does a great job of keeping my hair clean. It keeps it clean all day, and I never have to worry about my hair getting oily. It keeps the color of my color-treated hair looking vibrant and never dull. Scent This shampoo smells great and keeps my hair smelling nice all day long.

Expensive but works well!

I really like Aveda products as they use only natural essential oils that are beneficial and smells wonderful. I color my hair fairly often as I find it too expensive to color my long hair in the salon so I rely on a high quality shampoo that will protect and prolong my hair color. When I was using other products like Frederik Fekkai and then later Loreal, I felt they didn't really do much for my hair and Fekkai's hair products are around the same prices as Aveda's. I like Aveda's color conserve shampoo because it smells really unique - if you've ever tried Aveda products you'll know what I mean. I also like that you don't need a lot of it either and it lathers very well. The tube doesn't leak out when you place it upside down and it comes out really well when you squeeze it. I did notice that my hair color had lasted maybe a couple of weeks longer while using the Color Conserve shampoo as I wash my hair every day. It's a bit costly than conventional shampoo, but if you want you hair color to last a little longer and you want a more natural product for your hair, then give Aveda's Color Conserve shampoo a try. Effectiveness Works great as my hair color did last a bit longer in between coloring.

Really does conserve the color of your hair

I was very pleased at how well this product really does work. Effectiveness This product was recommended by my stylist and at first I was not going to get it because it was more than I wanted to spend on shampoo. But it is Aveda so you are going to spend a little more. I got both the conditioner and shampoo and was very pleased. Usually when I color my hair I notice that after a week it is not as vibrant and when I first get it done. The shampoo kept the color vibrant for like three weeks. Definitely longer than usual. I am glad I decided to purchase it. I was worth the extra money. My hair not only held the color longer but it felt soft every time I used it and just overall felt great. Scent For it being a specialized shampoo it smelled great. Aveda does do a good job though at making products with a good scent. It smells like you have gotten your hair done at the salon every day and personally got it styled by a stylist.
