I love Aveda products, and this one is no exception. It's not something I use year round or all the time, but during the two extremes of the year -- the dead of winter and the dead of summer. When it's 10 below and the wind chill factor is high, my face (cheeks mostly) get wind burned or so cold they get red. The same thing in the hottest part of the summer and I've been outside with or without sunscreen. This is so cooling and not only gets rid of that redness but feels so soothing, too. My daughter and I suffer from slight keratosis, little white bumps that show up on the backs of our arms, and exfoliating and moisturizing has been the best treatment for it so far. However, sometimes my daughter's arms get so bad that it looks irritated, especially in the driest part of winter. This Aveda Outer Peace alleviates that wonderfully. I almost always have a tube of this on hand somewhere in the house, year round.

Every once in a while, my skin just breaks out. Hormonal reasons I suppose because I'm obviously not in my teens any more. I don't really use an acne medicine, and nor do I want to. I use this cream when I'm having my bad time (which only lasts a few days). I think my skin is just telling me it needs help calming down, and if I don't do anything, it WILL get out of control. That's when I pull out my cooling Masque. I don't use it all the time because it's a little pricey and takes more time than I'm willing to put into it. And, I really only need it on occasion. But when it is that occasion, nothing works better to soothe my skin and make my appearance look normal and bright again. It really cools the skin, and makes it feel nice and clean. But, it doesn't over dry my skin, which I definitely don't need. Will it work on hard acne? Not sure, but for little outbreaks, it works great to calm your skin down!

Aveda Outer Peace Cooling Masque is great for just about any skin type but especially for acne-prone skin. The entire Outer Peace system works well but you do not need the entire system for this product to work. I have used this with the system and separately and it works well either way. It does not sting my skin or irritate it. It also reduces redness, swelling, and problemed acne and even lightens acne scars after a long period of time. It has a cooling effect, smells fresh (like green tea), makes my skin soft and moisturized, and doesn't dry it out. While this product does work well, it costs a lot of money. Believe me, it is expensive. I personally did not buy it because it was a gift but I would never just go and spend that much money on it myself. I have used other masques that are a fraction of the cost of this and they work well, too. Overall, this is a wonderful product but it is expensive! Then again, that's just me.

I first had this masque used on my face when at an Aveda salon getting an Outer Peace facial. My face felt phenomenal for almost a month so I contacted my estitician to find out what products I can use at home to get the same feeling. She highly recommended the Outer Peace Cooling Masque made by Aveda (along with the entire Outer peace line.) I love that it's all natural and isn't full of chemicals. It doesn't sting on my face nor does it make my face feel painful and tight when the masque is ready to be removed. Instead, my skin feels refreshed and cool as though there is cool water on my face while the masque is on. There is no burning feeling that I feel from other masques with chemicals. I use it once a week to keep my skin feeling fresh and clean. It is very refreshing and energizing. I'd highly recommend this product, along with the entire Outer Peace line, to anyone looking for a natural product that works.
