The Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo is a good overall cleanser. The scent is a bit stronger than I would like, but I usually prefer unscented products which isn't much of an option for dandruff care products. I don't have to use a lot of product to get my hair feeling clean and refreshed.

I've had varying degrees of dandruff problems for years and tried lots of different shampoos to treat it. All of the tea tree products I've tried seem to work for a while and then the dandruff comes back and I need a stronger, medicinal shampoo to clear it up. I think my case of dandruff is just serious enough to need something strong at least when it flares up, which is unfortunate since I really prefer using natural brands without the harsh additives and chemicals. So I use this product between times when my dandruff gets bad. It works well for months on end, and I like that it's so environmentally conscious. With most other natural brands I haven't been able to find any sort of dandruff management option, so I'll definitely keep using it as an everyday shampoo.

I have really bad dandruff and have tried prescription shampoos and OTC ones too. I tried this one at the recommendation of a friend. It is a nice enough shampoo, and I like the fact that it is organic, but it doesn't help my dandruff one little bit, nor does it relieve the itchy feeling I have on my scalp. Sorry! And I am just not crazy about the smell of tea tree oil.

I love and hate tea tree oil scent

By

from USA

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

I would like to start this off by saying that the smell of tea tree oil has never been on my list of favorite smells. It has a strong and distinctive odor that I actually find a bit offensive. Still, it's very effective at treating the skin for various things.
This shampoo is great for the scalp though the tingles take a little bit to get used to. The tingly lets you know that it's working. This isn't a shampoo that I, personally, would recommend for daily use. If used a lot, it can turn out to be a bit drying. Even after it dried my scalp, though, it still didn't cause any increase in flakes or dandruff. I find that twice a month usage is what works best for my own personal needs.
I keep a bottle of this shampoo around for those days when my skin is just too itchy to bear.
Yes, I admit to using it more as a body wash than a shampoo. Don't tell my family! The cooling property of the soap on the skin is quite refreshing. It almost seems to help clean any of the random scratches that the dog gives me better than just soap but I don't have any proof of that.

Organic dandruff relief.

By

from Modesto, CA

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo is chalk full of all natural ingredients from the tea tree oil to the all the other fruit extracts like orange and lemon (Even some of the ingredients that sound "inorganic" are like organic. For instance, 'hydroxypropylsulfonate' is a natural sugar-based surfactant). So whether you are trying to get a 'green' natural product or you just really want to fight you dandruff (without all the harsh chemicals) this stuff is right up your alley!

Effectiveness
So gosh darn effective! This shampoo sets out to restore the balance of moisture in your hair and scalp, and restore it to a healthy pH it also of course is set out to fight flaky dry skin! This shampoo manages to do all of this, and it also leaves the hair feeling silky smooth and soft to the touch.

Scent
This stuff has a very strong pleasant fragrance. It is not a perfume-y fake kind of smell, it is a natural good clean some what fruity scent (Which I love considering how much like medicine other anti-dandruff shampoos smell like).

works well, however the aroma is an acquired taste

By

from Fort Lauderdale, Fl

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

I really like this company. They use good ingredients. The product works well. I used another product by a different company from an infomercial and had extreme damage to my scalp. I never thought my hair or scalp would be the same again. I tried regular dandruff shampoos with the more chemical ingredients and smell. Then a friend suggested that I try a shampoo with tea tree in it since it can be healing. So I went to my natural store and decided to try Avalon Organics Tea Tree shampoo since I knew the company was a good natural one. It did take a couple of months but finally my scalp started to improve. I know some reviews said it did not seem to work for them. Everyone's situation is different but also maybe they did not give it time. As for some not happy with the smell, well it is better than most dandruff or scalp shampoos sold at most stores and their smell is a chemical one.

Effectiveness
I think it works well. It just takes some time for nature to take its course and start to heal your scalp.

Scent
The tea tree aroma grows on you after awhile. It is a natural aroma. I would rather smell that then what the regular store sell for scalp treatment.

Cradle Cap to Dandruff

By

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

I love Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo and have used it for my entire family. Both of my sons struggled with cradle cap, and I have been able to use just a tiny amount to help with this issue. The tea tree oil is gentle enough for their baby skin.
My husband has dandruff issues with a dry scalp. The tea tree oil is both soothing and cleansing for him.
I have normal hair that is not too oily or dry, but I just love that the ingredients are pure, natural and organic. Tea tree oil has antiseptic properties that get my hair really clean without drying it out.
My scalp experiences a nice tingling sensation when I use this shampoo. It is mild enough to use every time you wash your hair. I like the scent and the texture of this shampoo. It is not harsh like many other scalp treatment products.

Effectiveness
Works for my whole family for every issue.

Scent
I love the smell of tea tree oil, natural and not like chemicals

Great for an itchy scalp

By

from Maryville, TN

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

I have the great misfortune to suffer from super dry skin all winter long. That includes my scalp, too. It itches and flakes, and regular shampoo does not really help. Dandruff shampoo makes it worse since that isn't what the problem in. Enter Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo. It helps with the itchies, takes care of the flakes, and leaves my hair looking great. My scalp doesn't end up dry or greasy, it's balanced and healthy. The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is that the tea tree smell is very pronounced and it lingers. I don't mind it, I rather like the scent, but some may find it a little overpowering. I do find that using a cider vinegar rinse after shampooing, and then rinsing extra long with cool water does dampen some of the scent, but that might be too much work for some. Taking this into consideration, it may not be appropriate for some customers that are sensitive to fragrances. For me, it is a brilliant product that solves a real problem.

My hair smells like a hippie gypsie store

By

from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

Phenomenal product, not so phenomenal scent.

Effectiveness
While this shampoo definitely is less harsh on my hair than a lot of 'mainstream' products out there, I felt as though I had to use more than usual on it. I have long hair and using too much of any product is a big nono for me. Nevertheless, I can really feel how clean my hair is and it seems healthier every time I use it, which is a great plus for any shampoo. So all in all, effective, my hair is quite clean, but my bank account is dwindling.

Scent
Holy hippie, Batman! I can NOT get over how strong this smell is. If you love, and I really mean love, the smell of tea tree oil, then this is your product. Personally I don't mind tea tree oil, but I don't want wafts of it coming off of me all day. It really is the only thing you smell, really nothing else is able to compete with it. Also the fact that it really stays on your hair is a concern for me. Most shampoo scents don't make it after I condition, style and use other products on it, especially when I wear perfume, but not this little guy!

Not exactly what I was expecting

By

from USA

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

Usually when I go out of my way to buy an organic and high end shampoo I want it to be very good. Avalon organics tea tree scalp treatment shampoo was definitely not what I had in mind. The one thing that I did really like about the shampoo was the fact that it smelled amazing. It had a fresh minty sent that lasted for hours. One thing that I wasn't used to the fact that the shampoo doesn't Lather up very good. After I used the shampoo I noticed my hair was more oily and it was very flat. I thought maybe I would give it another few weeks to try and see if it would and it did get a little better, but overall this particular shampoo left my hair feeling and looking pretty flat. I do like the fact that the shampoo has natural products so I knew exactly what I was putting on my scalp but if it leaves my hair oily and looking flat unfortunately I had to stop using the product.

Effectiveness
This particular shampoo cleans your hair but does not add any other benefits.

Scent
Listen to the shampoo is magnificent.

Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo

By

from USA

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

I bought the Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo a few months ago when I was in a local health food store. I became obsessed with Avalon products about a year ago when I first starting using natural products. I was already using an Avalon shampoo that I loved, but I picked this up just to try it. When I first got home, I open it just to see what it smells like, The smell was a little strong, but anyone that is familiar with tea tree oil knows how strong the smell is. I like tea tree oil because it's anti-bacterial. It seemed to sting a tiny bit the first time I used it. I was a little worried, but it only happened the first time. This shampoo cleans my hair very well, and it leaves my hair feeling healthy. I love that it is all natural. The only problem I have is the price. It is much more expensive than other Avalon shampoos, and I don't understand why. Other than the price, this is a great product.

yummy shampoo

By

from Saint Louis, MO

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

If you like using tea tree I think you would like this shampoo. I used to use it to fend off head lice, but have since read how you should not use tea tree or lavender on little boys (some have grown breasts from continued use!) so I have discontinued using it. I am sure it is fine for adults to use. Tea tree oil treats so many conditions that it is great if you are having a problem with itching or infection or anything on your head or hair. Also the product is paraben free and made with organic ingredients. I read the ingredient list (like I always do) and was very happy with what it does and does not contain. It might be a little pricier, but I think if you use less you'll still be happy. Only during allergy season do I wash my hair every day.

Effectiveness
Nice shampoo, great if you have a problem. Give it a try before trying a prescription, it might just work for you.

Scent
If you like tea tree you will like this, very refreshing and clean. If you don't like tea tree scent you might want to consider a different product.

Great for difficult scalps!

By

from Liberty, KY

Comments about Avalon Organics Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Shampoo:

We discovered this shampoo while on vacation last year. Our hotel actually had samples of them. We LOVED it. Our scalps tend to be dry, flaky, and itchy. We noticed right away that it washed away most of the flakes and we were less itchy almost after the first time we used it! It greatly reduced all our problematic symptoms and left us with nice looking hair that we didn't have to worry about would have flakes in them.

Effectiveness
Worked quickly and really, really well. Greatly diminished the amount of flakes in our hair and moisturized (or otherwise treated) our scalps so they were less dry, less likely to flake, and a lot less itchy. We got almost immediate relief from using this shampoo, and after our vacation immediately stocked the bathroom with it. We've been using it ever since with continued good results.

Scent
It was strong, but not so strong that we wouldn't use the product even though we're quite sensitive to the scents put into most personal hygiene products. 90% of the aroma rinses out, and the rest it's too over powering for us.
