Scent a bit too strong for a natural shampoo

By

from Amherst, MA

Comments about Avalon Organics Glistening Conditioner Ylang Ylang:

I couldn't seem to warm up to the scent of the Avalon Organics Glistening Conditioner with Ylang Ylang. The Ylang Ylang scent was just way too strong for me but since I normally only buy natural hair care products I am not used to strong scents that don’t go away after my hair dries. So possibly if you normally wear any type of perfume you would like the Avalon Organics Conditioner with Ylang Ylang better than I did. Other than the strong smell, the Avalon Conditioner itself is great. I like how it makes my hair feel. True, you can’t expect the same results with a natural shampoo that you get with the chemical/plastic ones. Sure your hair looks and bounces fine but you may end up with cancer in the end and that isn't so great. When I use the Avalon Organics Glistening Conditioner with Ylang Ylang at least I know that the ingredients are pretty safe and my hair doesn't have to bounce with every step for me to feel good about myself. Clean is good enough for me :)

5 Star Ingredients, 3 Star Hair Results, No Animal Testing

By

from Jupiter, FL

Comments about Avalon Organics Glistening Conditioner Ylang Ylang:

Avalon Organics Glistening Conditioner Ylang Ylang is part of a Organic  hair line created by Avalon Natural Products. The company uses 100 % Organic Olive Oil and Grapeseed Oil in all of their hair products. There are no Harsh Chemicals or Preservatives, no Carcinogenic ingredients, Paraben-free, 100% Vegetarian, and no Animal Testing. I loved all of the wonderful ingredients in this shampoo, and its Pledge of Assurance that this product is a "safe, effective, pro-organic, synthetic color-free, natural  fragrance powerhouse of conditioning benefits". I bought this 11 fl. oz. bottle of conditioner to test its efficacy.

First of all, my hair is dry in nature. I bought this specific conditioner because it promised to "glisten and moisturize, infusing shimmering Mica Minerals onto my hair",  to help it come alive with vitality. I know, I had no idea how the Mica would infuse "shimmer", but, I wanted to believe that it could.

I used this conditioner after shampooing my hair with a product that removes any residual residue. So, my hair was a "clean palate" so to speak.   I squeezed a little onto my hand and massaged it in. This conditioner, though infused with Ylang Ylang, has an extremely faint aroma. It's actually almost non-existent. The texture is creamy, but, not oily at all. The Babassu Oil in this product promised to restore hair strength and moisturize.

The Glistening Conditioner rinsed out quickly and my hair was left soft and knotty. So, I had to do a little more detangling with my wide-tooth comb, after using this product. I didn't see any specific "extraordinary benefits" that this shampoo infused upon my hair.  No extra "vitality"---I guess that it means "body".  And, I never saw the "Glistening and Shimmering effect of Mica Minerals"  that this conditioner promised.

I've used it numerous times to test its consistency of results. I don't know what I was expecting this product to do---other than to condition with organic ingredients. That is a good thing. But, it did call itself a "Glistening Conditioner", so, I wanted "the glisten" also.

INGREDIENTS:  Purified Water, Organic Sunflower Oil, Vitamin E, Organic Wild Yam Root, Calendula Flower, Chamomile Flower Extracts, Mica, Arginine, Organic Ylang Ylang, Pro-Vitamin B-5, Babassu Seed Oil, Other Essential Oils, All Vegetarian.  Plus other ingredients with long-sounding names too numerous to list.  You get the idea though. It's all organic.

MY OPINION:  I think that Avalon Organics is a fine company with an admirable motto. By using all organic ingredients, the consumer has the company's pledge of assurance in the quality of their hair line.

To be fair, this was my experience with the conditioner. Others may have different results. The promise to make my hair  "glisten and shimmer" did not happen though. Still, I give this product Four Stars for its attempt to make a healthy, safe, and pro-organic hair product.
