The Austin City Limits Music Festival is an annual end-of-summer ritual here in the live music capital of the world. The 2007 festival was headlined by Bob Dylan, Wilco, Bjork, and the White Stripes. Dylan played his best set at Stubb's, while the White Stripes cancelled due to Meg White's anxiety issues.
Among the other 125+ acts to grace the eight stages of the ACL Fest were Joss Stone, the Killers, My Mornig Jacket, Yo La Tengo, JJ Grey and Mofro, and Queens of the Stone Age.
Unlike Austin's other huge music festival, South by Southwest, which is held at numerous venues throughout the city, the ACL Festival is centrally located in beautiful Zilker Park, and has a whole 'nother vibe to it. Much more communal, more in the spirit of the great outdoor music festivals.
Apparently, if you know a guy who knows a guy, and/or get your tickets early enough, the cost isn't too bad, but if you wait until the week of the event, you're likely to have to cough up $250 or so. So make plans now, and get your tickets early.
The 2008 Austin City Limits Music Festival will be held September 26 through 28 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas.
