I grill 5 to 6 times a year (all year round) this was my first grill so far I have had it since 2002 and its still going strong, no holes or anything, cooks good holds 8-10 burgers and and about 20 hot hogs t one time, or few slabs of small ribs, overall good quality, but I left it out in the elements one winter (I live in Michigan) and the lid was kind of stuck to the bottom and I had to pry it open and the top smoke vent is stuck close I just use the ones on the front and back

Best portable charcoal grill.

The walkabout is easy to fold down to store or move to new locations. Has excellent heat and a uniform heating cooking surface. UPDATE. Have had this grill for a very long time for a grill for me. I typically got 1 good season of grilling out of one this has been 4 years. Still cleans grills and works as well as when I first got it. However due to my own neglect and not storing it and cleaning it as I should the bottom has started to rust out. I will have to retire it to the scrap yard, but I will replace it with another just like it. I have used it to take to the beach to the race track and grill for 20 people, so if you are worried about the cooking space while you can't cook everything at once it seems with a large party it is in waves anyway I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Performance In the past several other portable charcoal grills have had hot spots or just would not get to temp to cook. It's a non issue with the walkabout. Versatility Good for home use or camping/tailgating/friends parties. Ease of Use Only issue is that it is charcoal some people are not used to the added mess. Although the inculded ash tray does make clean up much easier. Ease of Cleaning Pull grate out and dump ash tray. Clean up is done. Durability I've had mine 6 years now and it's still going strong. Have had much more expensive charcoal and gas grills not last half that long. Design While the looks are stellar it is functional, although a fold up tray would be nice, as it is now it takes 3 hands to get items on and off grill.

Best Charcoal Grill for The Price!

5

We go to the lake and camp out quite a bit and love to grill food. The Aussie Walk-A-Bout has traveled with us on our trips and it's a very durable quality built charcoal grill. I have purchased 2 of these grills, one stays at home and we keep the other on our camper. Right out of the box, it takes only a minute to set it up. It's preassembled and easy to use. It folds up and can be moved easy. My husband is the griller in our family, he prefers charcoal over gas and has made some remarkable meals on this grill. I personally use this grill for hamburger and steaks, but I've seen my husband cook fruit and vegetables and the Aussie cooks them even and to perfection since there's an air adjustment on the top, front, and back to control the airflow. Another great quality is the tray on the bottom, it lifts out and I'm able to clean the ash. Now I've used other grills and they have nothing on the quality of material the Aussie is made of, it also has nice handles and wheels for easy movement. The lid lifts back easy, I never worry about putting the lid down and cooking, this lid flips back and closes. I really enjoy using this grill, for the price it's a pretty heavy duty product. Highly recommend if you travel and need a quick set up to cook on charcoal.

Great Grill, Great Price.

We love our grill! We have used it with charcoal, and for smoking and it has worked great for both. There are two settings for the grate to sit closer or further from the heat. The lid got a little hot, to open and close, but it wasn't really a problem. Awesome grill for a very good price. We did use a chimany to get the coals lit really well, but the vent at the top helped to keep them going, and to control the heat. This was our first charcoal grill, and I think it will last us quite a long time. Performance Consistantly worked well. We never had an occasion that it didn't work. Versatility Could use for anything, including charcoal and smoking. With both options available, it made this grill versatile. Ease of Use My husband is the grill master, but even I could get this grill hot. We had no issues with this grill. Ease of Cleaning We used ammonia to clean the great, which worked great, but was kind of a hassle. Durability Sat outside all summer, held up great. No chipping paint. Design Great color, great easy fold up design, with wheels made it easy to move it around. Easy to pack up in the car and go. A litte hard to get the ashes out of the bottom of the grill though.

It is easily one of the lightest and most maneuverable grills.

It is a basic grill for people that don't have much space in the vicinity. Performance It keeps the heat in and allows the food to be cooked to a perfect tempurature. Versatility You can't really do more than grill with this particular item. There isn't a way to do much else with it. Ease of Use One of the easiest grills to use. Throw in the charcoal, light is up, and grill your food to however you desire it. Ease of Cleaning Pretty simple to clean. Just use a grill brush with warm water with soap to cleanse. Durability It is durable for cooking, but because it is so light you might find it in the yard next door if the wind is really bad. Design The design is very basic and if you aren't looking for something that is too high-tech then this is perfect for you.

Complicated

The grill (I'm sure) works great ... but the "easy assembly" instructions weren't quite true. When the package arrived, I was excited to start the assembly ... but the instructions were not easily understood and about 30% of the pieces to put the grill together were missing or didn't fit. We ended up never being able to use it and not being able to return it. Will be sure to read more reviews next grill purchase.

Walked The Walk

5

In my book this grill "walked the walk." It went above my expectations. This was my first time in buying this type of grill and before I decided to make the purchase, viewed it a few times. Although the sales associate explained its ease in operation I was skeptical, but with it being on sale, I thought why not. I found it light enough to carry without rolling-- although it could be rolled if I desired. The instructions were easy to read and use and as I followed them, the grill performed as explained. The pan that held the briquettes was easy to clean as well--I poured water over it and the ashes rolled off--replaced it when dry, folded the grill and stored it in a "nook" on my patio. I would recommend this grill to anyone, especially women who are nervous about being the "grillmaster." I am glad I made the purchase! Performance The Aussie Walk-A-Bout performed better than I expected. The briquettes lit in pyramid style then fanned out led to even cooking and the ribs were grilled to perfection! Versatility I was surprised and happy to learn that in folding the grill, I was able to store it in a small area! Ease of Use Following the instructions netted easy operations. Ease of Cleaning The ashes washed right off with water being poured over the pan that held the briquettes. Durability The Aussie Walk-A-Bout appears to be made of durable materials. Design The Aussie Walk-A-Bout's design to roll, fold and store is a great idea in my book! It fits in a small space and is out of the way.

great for apartments

I bought this to see how often I'd grill. It's a great grill but the tiny propane tanks can quickly add up in price. I'd like the option to attach a tank as well. The tanks can sometimes be difficult to get on. But it doesn't take up much space and is great for an apartment balcony.

The most basic grill you'll ever use.

4

It's a great, simple grill. If all you need is grilled food without too much technical expertise, then this is it. Performance It grills your food like it should. Versatility It has two wheels that you can use to get it to anywhere that you want to and it stands quite sturdily once propped up. I wouldn't grill on an inclined surface though, but it works well on slightly uneven ones too. Ease of Use I wish that it had more of a temperature setting, but being as this is your most basic of grills, you have to do the gauging yourself. You put your charcoal on the bottom and then (optional) cover the wire grill with some foil. It does have a vent though on the top of the grill cover and the bottom front to let out steam. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning is pretty easy. Dump out the charcoal and then take a hose to the grill. No electric areas = friend to water. Of course you would leave it out to dry before storing away to prevent rusting. Durability We grill every so often and have had this grill for a few years now. It works very well, no maintenance needed. Design It's a very basic grill. Add charcoal, lighter fluid, an igniting agent and you are good to go.
