August Rush —

There is such a sense of magic woven throughout the entire film. The boy is a prodigy and hears the music that is everywhere in his world. Many artists are defeated and robbed of greatness by the suppression of their unexpected genius. "Say it is not so", is so much easier for a child to chose. It has been established that most children regress in their visual art, as the criticism of peers and elders makes them doubt their talent. Only the very gifted can get lost in their own reality enough to break out of the mould and succeed with such greatness!

Anyone who has ever witnessed the cruel domination that a parent can impose on a child's life will understand that the plot is not too implausible to be believed. She was told that the baby did not survive at birth. She could continue to perform; her father lived his life through her talent. Fate denied her the choice to be a mother and she lived with that void for ten years.

This movie has your heart in your throat and tears in your eyes, as the music swells from the organ. One must forget to mention the little girl who lets him sleep in the shelter and brings the priest to hear him! Robin Williams is the Pied Piper and the old famous theatre with street urchins harkens to the era of Dickens's Oliver Twist or Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn.
