The Ath-esw9 is one of the best set of portable headphones ever. It is one purchases that non-audiophile might immediately regret, but will soon realize that it's well worth the money. First of all, I would like to say that these are classy headphones, with its wood finishing and lambskin leather pads. Although they are bigger than I initially thought, they still fit within the realm of "portable" and can be carried around the neck without attracting attention. However, there are still some things that detract it from being great in portability such as its weak sound isolation and not being foldable around the headbands. As for the sound, it has a strong solid bass that is not overwhelming, a beautiful midrange and nice highs. Those expecting a massive or even moderately size soundstage will be disappointed as with usual closed ear headphones. Overall, I recommend these headphones to anyone willing to expand their music horizons.
