This was my second trip to Atlantis. My husband and I went in March of 2006. We had a nightmare traveling to get there. I had booked our trip online and took one of the flight schedules offered from the Atlantis website, and it was Spring Break! Big Mistake! This year, I took my daughter and son-in-law and my two grandchildren, and made sure to book my flight separeately. I booked the room online at www.atlantis.com. We were able to get one room for all five of us because my youngest grandchild is 3, so they allowed five people to one room under those circumstances. I also booked our flight directly with American Airlines, www.aa.com. I felt like I got a better deal that way and trust them more than other airlines. The big plus was there was only one connecting flight this trip.
Atlantis had built new water rides since I had been there that were absolutely the funnest I had ever been on. The scariest ride they have is called Leap of Faith which was too scary for me to try, but my son-in-law highly recommends it. The only problem we had was that my grandchildren were too small to go on most of the water rides, but they have so many different kiddie pool areas and so many different pools in general to choose from. My grandson loved the Lazy River ride. Be prepared to plan your day, however, because the pools and water features close at 7:00 P.M. There is so much to do and see there. I kept getting distracted by all of the different outdoor aquarium exhibits on my way to the rides. It is the most amazing place I have ever seen!! The Dig is the largest aquarium, I think, in the world!! It has to be seen to be believed!! The art work displayed at the resort is absolutely amazing also! Be sure to go through all of the buildings on site to experience all of it. You will be Amazed!! We didn't venture off of the resort because we were having such a good time there, and we stayed seven days!
Atlantis now has a dolphin adventure at the resort, but it was too pricy for us, so we did the one at Blue Lagoon Island which was about half the price that Alantis was asking. The trip to Blue Lagoon Island on the ferry was so much fun! I highly recomment the Dolphin Experience at Blue Lagoon Island. There are also other adventures that you can book on this trip, such as snorkeling and scuba diving.
Be prepared for the price for food. It is very expensive! There are some places that aren't quite so expensive if you prepare and check out all of your options. Even though it was a little expensive, our favorite place was Johnny Rockets retro burger and shake diner, and every evening about 7:00, all of the staff lines up and dances and sings to an oldie but goody tune!! It was so much fun!!
We were also there on July 10, which is their Independence day. We were able to experience the celebration at the marina for this occasion. It was Great!!
There is so much more I could say, but save your money and try to have this experience at least once in your life, especially if you have children!!
Best of all the beach and water is out of this world!! The most beautiful water and so clear!!
