Atenolol Oral Blood Pressure Medicine —

I have already reviewed Diovan, the other medication I take to alleviate and control high blood pressure.  Another drug I take is Atenolol which is the common name for Tenormin manufactured by Astra-Zeneca.  This medicine is in the form of a pill which is taken once a day.  I can buy a 90-day supply from CVS Caremark Prescription Plan mail order service for only $10 (or a little more than $3 a month).

Atenolol is a beta-blocker which works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body such as epinephrine on the heart and blood vessels, thereby having a beneficial effect on blood pressure.  This medicine should be taken only if prescribed by a physician who knows your medical history and also what other medications you are taking.  If you are pregnant, Atenolol should be taken only if really needed and after discussion with your doctor.

Certain side effects may occur, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and drowsiness.  Atenolol may also reduce circulation to your hands and feet, causing them to feel cold ... a condition which may be aggravated by smoking.  Avoiding tobacco use improves your odds if you are taking Atenolol.

MY VIEWPOINT:

Atenolol (Tenormin) manufactured by Astra-Zeneca may not be for everyone, should be used only when prescribed by a physician and works best in tandem with a healthier diet and lifestyle.  If you are coping with high blood pressure problems, remember not to sweat the "small stuff."  Meanwhile, Atenolol is there to help you through if taken according to directions.

You're cute, Gigi! I've always loved the autumn colors even as a child. When I was in the 8th grade, our class went out sketching and painting in late September or October. We brushed buttermilk across our paper and then sketched the wet paper with colored chalk. Some of those paintings were pretty nifty if I do say so myself. We loved in a little town with tons of trees. Well, I'll catch ya later!

I'm doing well and the weather is getting cooler here too. We have hit some 40s at night and then went back into the high 60s and low 70s during the days. It's that ever changing weather where you are wearing short-sleeves one day and layers the next.

Yesterday while traveling out of town my pastor's wife made a comment about the beauty of the fall leaves and the colors changing. I told her, "I thought that was stuff that interests old people" and she started laughing as she realized it didn't mean much to me. But the colors are bright and beautiful. I told her she can drive my dirt road and view all the trees and colors changing if she wanted too ;+)

I can't take vaccinations so I'm hoping that I'm not hit with any of the flu strains. So far the Lord has watched over me in that regard. I hope the shot doesn't have adverse effects on you. I have heard so many complaints about it. Here's wishing you a healthy fall/winter too!

ATTAGIRL! How have you been doing, Gigi? The weather is cool here in Illinois but I really like it, I love autumn. Hope everything is going well. Take care and don't catch H1N1 or whatever they are calling it. I'm going to get a shot.

Sounds like you have all the know how on keeping that blood pressure right where it needs to be. I have low BP so my doctor is always telling me to add salt to my diet but I tell her no because then someday if they ever tell me I have high BP they would tell me to cutback on the sodium and I would know they were the ones that started the problem. So, I just deal with low BP.
