I found Associated Content a little over six months ago. I've always enjoyed writing and have looked for legitimate sites that pay for your articles, but hadn't had much luck. Associated Content has opened new doors for me, and is an online writing site that I am proud to be a member of.
At Associated Content, you can write on any topic you choose. You can review your favorite restaurant, write about world news that interests you, submit your poetry, and just about anything you have a passion for writing about. Certain things are not qualified for upfront payment, such as poetry. However, everything is subject to "performance payments", which will be explained later.
Upfront payment - If you are willing to give Associated Content exclusive rights to an article you have wrote, and you are submitting a piece that qualifies for upfront payment, Associated Content will send you an offer for a specific dollar amount. This amount could be as low as .99 cents, and as high as over $ 5.00. The originality of your work will increase the amount of upfront payment, as will the skill of your writing.
Performance Payment - Everything you submit on Associated Content qualifies for Performance Payments. The more your work is viewed by others, the more performance payments you will earn. The longer you are with Associated Content, and the more articles you write, the more work you will have out of the Internet for people to view. The amount you receive for payment is based on every thousand page views of each of your works. You will receive this payment monthly. I only have somewhere around 40,000 page views, and I receive roughly $ 25.00 a month in performance payments.
Calls for content - Every time you log into your Associated Content account, you'll see a list of "calls for content". This is a list of assignments that you can decide to write about. Sometimes there is a set payment for the assignment, and other times there isn't. You NEVER have to write for Calls For Content if you don't want to. It's simply an option if you're interested.
Contests - Associated Content runs several contests. When I was a beginner on the site, I received an award for New Content Producer for 2008. This earned me a $ 50.00 bonus, and I have a ribbon on my profile for everyone to see. Other contests include Content Producer of the Year, which earns somewhere around $ 2,500.00. Monthly contests are ran on specific topics, for instance in March these topics include: gardening, parenting, and business. Anyone can write for the contests, and if your article is chosen as the best, you'll receive $ 100.00 and a ribbon for your profile.
If you want to write for Associated Content, you have to have a PayPal account. If you receive an upfront payment, that money is instantly transferred into your account, but as I said earlier, Performance Payments are only issued once a month.
The atmosphere at Associated Content is a friendly one. If you enter the contests, it can get competitive, but it's all in fun and it's friendly competition. I know several members of Viewpoints that are also members of Associated Content, and it's nice to see their faces there too. Being in a community with so many other writers, you learn so much about your craft. It's also a helpful way to learn of other paid writing sites from people that have experience and know which ones are good, and which are not so good.
This is an excellent way to earn a little extra money. You won't get rich, but you will have money you didn't have before. I've done pretty well, and I've met a lot of very nice people in the process. I'd enjoy seeing YOU there too! You can visit associatedcontent.com yourself, or send me a PM and I'll send you my referral link. (I get credit for YOU joining this way) No pressure, and it's totally up to you. Either way, I'd enjoy to see you there.
