As Seen On TV PedEgg Platinum Pro —

Okay.  I admit that my little "accident" with the PedEgg Platinum Pro Stainless Steel Foot Care System was completely my fault and has nothing to do with the product's design or effectiveness. But, it's part of my experience so I figure I have to include it in any review I write about the product.

The Original PedEgg foot callus remover intrigued me, but I was holding out to read reviews and see if I could get one at a reduced price.  Recently, I came across an ad for a newer, more stylish version being sold at HSN.com for $19.95 plus $3.95 shipping.  It was rated as a "Customer Pick" so I thought it might be time to buy and see for myself what all the fuss was about.

The PedEgg Platinum Pro is similar to the Original version - precision micro-files to scrape away calluses, egg-shaped design with a compartment to catch the shavings, and buffing pads to finish it off.  As near as I could tell, the main differences between the two versions is that the Platinum Pro is black plastic rather than white, and has 138 stainless steel micro-files as opposed to the Original's 100 metal files.  I decided that if I was going to buy the PedEgg, I may as well splurge for the top of the line.

The PedEgg is easy to put together and use.  The egg shape fit neatly in the palm of my hand, and I began sliding the gizmo back and forth repetitively over my foot.  There is a warning that for best results your feet should be completely dry.   So only give yourself a foot soak after removing the calluses.

Once I got into the rhythm of the movement, it was as easy as breathing.  Unfortunately, I was interrupted several times because the flimsy cover kept popping off and spilling the shavings around.  The other problem I had was that I had a difficult time feeling if I was getting to close to healthy skin.  I have decreased sensation in my feet due to a medical issue; I didn't realize I had been scraping into healthy skin until I saw blood dripping onto the floor!  Again, this is completely my fault.  There are warnings in the accompanying pamphlet.  I should have been more careful.

At any rate, I have mixed feelings about the product.  The PedEgg is designed well, but the low quality of the materials makes it frustrating to use.  I never did try out the included buffing/finishing pads, because I didn't have much skin left to buff.  Not to worry though, I'm all better now. :-)

In my opinion, the Ped Egg Platinum Pro does work as advertised, but because of the flimsy construction, it's also a lot messier than advertised.  I think I'll probably go back to my battery-powered callus remover.  It's a lot cheaper and works just as well.

LoveisJoy... I like how fair and refreshingly honest you are here. This product reminds me of a cheese grater. Looks like it can easily be over-used by accident. I'd probably do the same thing. Glad to hear your feet have healed nicely!

First of all, I don't have diabetes, and secondly, I clearly said that cutting too deep was my own fault. Have a nice day. :)

The manufacturer specifically says not to use the Pedegg if you have a medicalcondition such as diabetes that causes desensitized feet. You would have thought since you know this that you would have been extra careful. You're a dumbass.

Sounds like a good idea with shoddy execution. Sorry to hear about your feet.

Ouch! I know how you did it and I know it is easy to do when you have desensitized body parts. Glad it was a minor one though. Thanks for sharing ;) Ron
