As Seen On TV Shark Steam Mop —

Warning: Beware of something that sounds "too good to be true!" Seeing the television ad for the Shark Steam Mop, the only thing that registered in my tired and frazzled brain was "Here's the answer to my tired housewife prayers." I was wrong. The Shark Steam Mop's price is steep for something that doesn't deliver what it promises, namely, to easily and throughly clean your floors. The ergonomic handle is terrific. The mop is super lightweight. The steam part of the mop produces mass billows of the stuff. The floor pads work, initially. But they're not designed to hold alot of crud, so they're quickly overcome by dirt, leaving behind ugly streaks of filth wherever you push the mop. And the darn thing is hard to handle. I'm used to wheels on a vacuum...duh...who isn't. I was so excited by this product, that I never gave a thought to the fact that it doesn't have wheels, therefore is very difficult to push and pull across the floor using just "arm power." My arm muscles just aren't what they used to be! Sorry Shark, you've got some awesome products out there, but this isn't one of them.

It's a shame you weren't happier with the product. But I'm confused...where have you seen a mop on wheels?

And you may have a point, but I bought it because I've had two major surgeries, back to back, can't do the "wring and sling" type of floor mopping anymore, and right now, can't do anything that overtly physical on a daily basis. I was looking for the kind of ease of use that the product promised. Truth be known, even if my health didn't hamper me, my schedule is so crazy, I don't have time to do it more than a few times a week. So I do my floors every 3-4 days. I also have 3 dogs, which doesn't bode well for my floors remaining dirt free. That's another reason I bought it, in the hopes that, after first vacuuming the floors, the mop would then help coming behind their dirt tracking easier to clean up. So with that kind of need, the mop has failed for me.

If you use this to maintain floors without waiting so long in between it works great. I never allow my floors to get so dirty that they would streak dirt so I believe this product works wonders. It is especially useful for daily kitchen floor touch ups and can be quickly done at the end of the day.
