As Seen On TV Shark Steam Mop —

Let me start out by saying, I have in the house me, my husband, 12 year old daughter, and 4 dogs. After raising 4 teenage boys, I'm pretty sure the dogs drag in more dirt than a kid does. (kids at least are supposed to remove their dirty shoes at the door. The dogs, on the other hand....) It said on the box, "Safe for wood floors", which I have. After using it, I'm positive this thing wasn't designed for a family like ours.

The next thing I want to say is, "Don't waste you're money!"

I went to Bed Bath & Beyond, and bought the $99.99 model (It's $40 more than the other model because it has a slightly bigger tank and comes with FIVE (ooh la la) mop head thingies.

So, first I put the thing together, which was very easy to do. Took me all of 2 minutes. Then I read the directions on how to use it, filled up the tank, and started pushing it around the floor in a "forward and back" motion just like the directions said. That motion pumps the handle which creates more steam. What the directions don't say is that you should use SHORT strokes, especially if your floor is really dirty. This will do two things A) make the mop head thingy more hot and steamy to better remove the dirt and B) steam up your windows really good.

What this mop is really good at doing is pushing the dirt around. All the dirt collects on the flat mop head thingy, and stays there as you continue to push the mop in the forward and back motion around the room. My floors were nice and smeared by the time I was done, and that was after using ALL FIVE of the mop-head thingies, AND I had to work much harder than I did with my regular mop. Maybe it was because I'd now steamed up the room, but man, I was sweating!

Just out of curiosity, when I was done I drug out my old bucket and mop. Just as I suspected, the mop water was still pretty dirty when I was done! Granted with the Shark I wasn't using any chemicals, but what difference does that make if there's still gross stuff all over my floor?

So, I'm thinkin I'll be sending this one back! However, just to give it a fair chance, I'll use it a couple times a week for a month (so not when there's a lot of build-up on my floors) and see if I change my mind.

i was just wondering if you swept the floor first? i have dark laminate floors and EVERYTHING i use (even plain water) streaks them if i dont get on my hands and knees with a towel and dry it up. i was hoping that this would be different and i dont mind sweeping first as long as it doesnt leave streaks
