No,it's NOT a sex toy! I swear! And it really tones the arms.
**Quick View: **Never has an exercise gadget been mocked, spoofed, laughed at, and scorned like the As Seen On TV Shake Weight. This 2.5 pound weight that you hold in your hands and shake for toned arms looks like a sex toy. The motions you go through look, well, sexual. But getting past the chuckles, the gadget really does work!
My Take on the As Seen On TV Shake Weight
I am the queen of being sucked into crazy infomercials - and buying the crazy products on them. I have to admit, when I first saw the elongated commercial for the As Seen On TV Shake Weight, I thought it was a joke. I mean, really? You take this....bobble headed weight and shake it up and down like...well, let's just say I saw the same sexual innuendo in the infomercial as everyone else did. My son said his friends and he think the infomercial is hilarious and they can't believe that it's a for a real exercise gadget. In fact, when he saw that I actually had two Shake Weights, he took one to show his friends and, presumably, laugh at me for being so dumb.
But wait! The **As Seen On TV Shake Weight **works! This gadget is a 2.5 plastic weight with ends that bobble up and down as you shake it. It is long, thick, and has two blunt ends. Yes, it looks like something you may find in an adult novelty shop but, if used properly, your arms will feel a definite burn.
The idea behind the** As Seen On TV Shake Weight** is to stress the muscles and tone them by strenuously shaking the weight using two hands. You grasp the weight and hold it in front of you then shake, shake, shake it until...until...your arms fatigue. Many spoofs of this action are on the net - just look up Shake Weight or Shake Weight spoofs to see hilarious spoof videos or even REAL videos that just seem hilarious due to the way you have to hold and stroke the weight so fast.
But all that aside, I tried the DVD that comes with the product and my arms really felt the burn. My husband almost fell off his chair watching me so now I do it alone. Yes, I shake my weight alone at night. I admit it.
Although the weight is only 2.5 pounds, the way the heads expand and retract when you shake it really piles on the resistance. I was amazed at how challenging it was to do the DVD which shows a ridiculously toned woman going through several exercises. You will never, ever, ever get arms like hers using the Shake Weight. Never. But you WILL tone up your arms, get rid of some triceps wiggle, and get a bit stronger. If you stick with it and use the** As Seen On TV Shake Weight** (or weights if you want an extra challenge), you will see results.
Obviously, if you are a weight lifter or even a regular exerciser who incorporates weight into her exercise regime, you may not find the **As Seen On TV Shake Weight **challenging. If you're a beginner or intermediate exerciser who doesn't want to get into true weight lifting but wants toned arms, this gadget just might be for you.
Just be sure to keep it out of sight when company comes and do the exercises alone. People will laugh at you, I promise. It does look amazingly suggestive. My arms feel the burn and I am a regular exerciser. I don't JUST use the weight to keep my arms toned but it's a quick and fairly easy way to get some needed arm exercise in when I don't want to haul out my weights, kettlebells, or other equipment. I just...shake.
My Viewpoint
The As Seen On TV Shake Weight is $19.95 plus shipping and has a triple your money back guarantee. They will give you three times the purchase price if you're unsatisfied with the results. I don't know if they really will or won't but I'm satisfied. This weight won't give you ripped, super buff arms but it will help to tone the entire arm area and get at the trouble spots like the "bat wings" that rarely get worked. Yes, it's funny looking and looks funny when you do the exercises. People are laughing about the gadget all over the net. But as silly as it looks to do the exercises, they work. I give this rather bizarre exercise gadget 4 stars. If you can get past the way you look when using the As Seen On TV Shake Weight, you'll feel it all throughout your arms.
And guys! Don't feel left out. The company just came out with a Shake Weight for men. This ought to bring about a while new level of spoofdom on the net! Haha.
