As Seen On TV Original PedEgg —

The ped egg works pretty well for filing dry skin off your feet like it shows in the commercial, but it isn't neat like it shows.  The skin shavings don't stay neatly inside the egg.  It even mentions on the package that because it's so tidy you can use it anywhere.  I certainly wouldn't recommend that.  It gets skin dust everywhere.  I use it with a towel under my foot to try to contain the mess.

The ped egg is really very much like a regular foot file in the way it works.  It has a flat metal surface with openings that look like a little cheese grater.  You rub the file against the skin and slough it away revealing the softer skin underneath.  The advantage of the ped egg over the standard foot file on a handle is the shape.  It is more comfortable to grasp and easier to use.

It doesn't hurt your feet at all, no matter how hard you scrub.  I like it better than my pumice stone in that respect.  The pumice stone can be a bit uncomfortable sometimes, but the ped egg feels fine even on the delicate parts of the foot.

I liked it a lot for softening the minor issues on my own feet.  For my husband's feet with a lot more callousing and dryness, it's not exactly instant results.  It's going to take some work for them to get into soft shape.  But I think eventually the ped egg will do what it says even on them.  They are getting better with every session with the egg.

The metal filing surface does seem to be going a bit dull already with only a week or so of use, and I saw some refills for it at the store, so I guess that the surface will need replaced soon.  I didn't realize when I saw it on the commercials that the blades would need replaced regularly.  It looked more like a more permanently reusable item.  That's a bit disappointing. I think if you take regular good care of your feet, you probably to could go a lot longer without needed refills.  But since my husband's feet were in serious disrepair, I think my blades are loosing sharpness extra quickly.

I paid $9.99 for the ped egg at Walgreens.  I'd say it is worth what I paid for it.  Similar products like nice pumice stones and foot files were only a buck or two cheaper and I like the ped egg better.
