Disappointed with the Pink Ped Egg!!!

3 star rating

a woman, a beauty diva, a dry skin sufferer, practical, disappointed with this product, taking care of my skin, very skin conscious
Pros

not sharp, won't cut you, traps dry skin, use on dry feet anywhere, available in drug stores, proceeds go to breast cancer research, inexpensive, easy to use

Cons
ped egg does not catch all the shavings, no better than good foot scrub, cheaply made, not the miracle it claims to be

Limited Edition
Pink Ped Egg

I've seen the Ped Egg advertisements on TV several times, but I was never interested. I always had a hard time believing it would get rid of calluses and dry skin on the feet. I was shopping at Walgreen drug store a few months ago and saw that they were selling the Ped Egg. Now this Ped Egg is pink and the proceeds go to fight Breast Cancer. I looked it over and said to myself "what the heck it is only $9.99." If it doesn't work, at least it went to a great cause. I bought it!

About The Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg~
The Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg removes dead skin, but also helps in the fight against Breast Cancer. The proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg is in the shape of an egg, but it is bigger than an egg. It is made of plastic and you hold it in the palm of your hand. It has a comfortable ergonomic design and is easy to use. There are over 100 precision stainless steel micro files. This gently removes calluses and dead skin. Just snap the blade cartridge into the top cover. The skin shavings will catch in the top cover. It comes with two (2) self-adhesive emery pads. You can put the emery pad on the outside of the bottom cover. After using the Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg, buff your skin with the emery pad.

My Viewpoint
My overall impression of the Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg is not favorable. I have several calluses on my feet and it worked pretty well on them. I opened up the cover where it was collecting all the shavings and there was quite a bit in the cover. I did find skin shavings on the floor after using it on my calluses. It doesn't trap ALL the shavings in my opinion.

However, when I used the Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg on my heels, it did not work as well. It collected skin shavings, but my heels still had dead skin on them. It almost looked like I had scrapped my heels. I was disappointed. I used the emery pad to buff my heels and calluses. Then I just put some lotion on and my feet felt fine.

I would not recommend the Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg and I give it 3 stars! I think I will just keep using my foot scrub and lotion. I may use the Limited Edition Pink Ped Egg just on my calluses since it did shave it down some.

Oh. Hmm... how about donating it to the salvation army .... with the dry flakes and all. :P No I'm kidding! That is a good question though.

You're welcome. :D

I still have the Pedegg. I don't even use it anymore. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. At least I didn't spend a lot of money on it. Thanks for reading and sending me a comment. =)

I saw this Pedegg things on infomercials too and on the Home Shopping Network. Thanks for your excellent review! :D At least you didn't pay a lot for it and the money was for a good cause. :)

You are not missing out on anything special. At least when I bought mine, it was not expensive.

mindyvol wrote on Oct 22, 2008 at 12:58PM

I have friends who bought this but for some reason it grosses me out (lol). I'm glad to know that it doesn't work anyways so that I don't feel like I'm missing out on something.

Gigi, Thanks for telling me about your trick for dry feet. I am going to definitely try it.

GigiandAdonai wrote on Oct 21, 2008 at 8:28PM

Here's a trick for dry feet and the crackly part. My best friend suggested it for the crackly part and my oncologist suggested it for dry feet. My feet are still soft like a newborn's and look wonderful. After you shower/bathe, apply some Vasoline or petroleum jelly or A&D Baby ointment on your feet and then put white socks on--not colored. The dye in the colored socks will interact with the petroleum and produce a burning sensation. Keep the socks on for a few hours or if you can sleep with them on then great. This will soften your feet and the dry skin will stick to the inside of the sock. I have special socks that I use just for this because once you wear them with Vaseline they will always have a greasy feeling no matter how many times you wash them. I love this technique and it's cheap. I usually get a big thing of Vaseline from the Dollar Tree--woo hoo;+)

Hi, krislynn. I didn't think you hurt your foot with the PedEgg. Although i do see how someone possibly could. I knew the nerve damage was BEFORE the PedEgg. I was expressing concern and wondered how the nerve damage happened, ex.: prior injury. I am so glad you have found a cream to help alleviate the symptoms. I had heard of a natural product with tea tree oil, perhaps this is the one. You expressed yourself very well in your review and your replies to me. Thank you, krislynn, for taking the time. It is appreciated. Many blessings!

I think I may have confused you in my last message. My doctor advised me not to use the PedEgg again. The reason is I have nerve damage and a syndrome called RSD in my left foot. My foot is very tender to touch at times. I DID NOT hurt or slice my foot using the PedEgg. The lotion I found is called Foot Pain Cream with Tea Tree Oil. It helps some with the pain and is very good on my dry skin. I have added the lotion/cream to my list of reviews to do. Thanks for your concern. God Bless!

Yikes. I was right wasn't I? It's like a cheese grater. Did you injure your foot? I hope it's something that will heal soon. What kind of lotion did you find? By any chance is it a homeopathic product? I bet you could write an interesting review about it. Many blessings.

In response to LadyMagic's comment from Oct 19, 2008 at 11:47PM:

It did not hurt to use it. I was real careful. I was more afraid of cutting my fingers. I did not put this in the review, but I have nerve damage in my left foot. I was speaking with my doctor and he advised not to use it on that foot anymore. The reason he said that was because just touching my foot causes pain. I did find some lotion that is for nerve damage/pain which is suppose to help with the pain. The lotion does make my feet soft and smooth. I have just been using it. I thought of another review I can do. Thanks for reading the review.

LadyMagic wrote on Oct 19, 2008 at 11:47PM

I admire your courage. Why courage? Because I am scared to use on my skin, something that looks like a cheese grater. Ouch. Did it hurt at all? I started getting a callous on each heel so I was curious about this product until I saw the grater part. No thanks. I'll stick with my Jason 25,000 i.u. vitamin E age renewal creme. I put this on and it softens it up. Good review, krislynn. : )

Actually it didn't me either. I don't even have rough feet or callouses. I think I liked the idea of shavings all in a little egg although they get all over still anyway.

I can't afford pedicures, either. I guess I'll stick to my foot scrubs and lotions. The things we have to do to be beautiful.

jazzybean01 wrote on Oct 19, 2008 at 4:23PM

My feet are so tough they need some tough love. I guess it doesn't help that I wore fire boots for three years. I should go get a pedicure every month to get these babies soft again but I can't afford it.

Excellent review. You gave both good points & bad. I think I'll stay away from this one now.

I am usually that way too. For one reason or other, the PedEgg just did not speak to me that I needed it right then.

I'm such a fool sometimes. I know these things will end up in stores or cheaper sites but I have to have them now now now. Then I'm disappointed.

I was tempted one time to order one over the internet, but the shipping was so high. I figured like all products on TV they eventually will be sold in stores.

PattyTherre wrote on Oct 16, 2008 at 9:39PM

At least some of the money went for Breast Cancer research. I bought mine from TV and had to pay crazy shipping and wasn't impressed.

I was really disappointed after using my PedEgg. The PedEgg commercials make it look so easy. I am always a sucker for new items especially beauty products that claim miracles. At least I did not spend a bunch of money on it.

I bought the regular PedEgg, too, a few months ago and I was very disappointed in it as well. Good Review.
