I'm a bath taker. I only take showers when I am on a time crunch. I rent the townhouse I live in now, and there are no handles, ridges, bars of any type to help me get out of the bathtub! The bottom of the tub is smooth too. It used to be difficult to get out of the tub for me. I was in Walgreens and saw this As Seen On TV Get A Grip safety bar, and it wasn't too expensive, so I decided to give it a shot.

I have never had any long-term luck with anything with suction cups on it. It doesn't matter what I do, the cups lose their sticking power relatively easily, and that's with a shower scrubby attached, never mind a person weighing over 100 pounds using it as the only leverage to get out of a tub.

These are not your ordinary suction cups. First, make sure you clean and dry the surface (horizontal or vertical) you want to stick the Get A Grip safety bar on. It looks like an old-fashioned telephone, and on both ends are levers. When the levers are up, the suction cups are not engaged. Place the bar on the surface and then push the levers down to engage the suction cups. You can tell it is going to be sturdy just by how much pressure it takes to engage the suction cups. The plastic the safety bar is made of is pretty high-density.

My Get A Grip safety bar has never moved. I put my entire body weight on it and it totally supports me, and I don't feel nervous that it's going to suddenly come off and send me free wheeling back into the tub and hurt myself. Every time I am going to get into the bathtub, I test it using my full weight. After many uses, it has never moved or even slid around a bit.

I would suggest this for anyone who needs a temporary solution to bathtub safety. When you remove the Get A Grip safety bar, it doesn't leave marks or mar the surface it was on in any way. Finally! Some luck with an As Seen On TV product!

Nice review! This sounds very useful for various types of users, including disabled adults who might otherwise slip in the shower!

Oh my gosh, that is such a good idea!!! I think I may get one for when my in-laws visit, since I really dno't want to install a permanent safety bar!!! I'm so glad I read this!

I've seen these and wondered how well they work. I could definitely use this in my bathroom. :)
