Sleet, freezing rain, snow drifts, blinding blizzards....who needs 'em!! Not me, that's for sure. If I lived in a cold-weather state, you can bet your bottom dollar I'd be booking some SERIOUS warm-weather vacations for those coldest months of the year. I'd be looking at the great Mexican beach resorts, or maybe some fantastic Caribbean islands --- some place where the only thing cold is the drinks served at the beachside bars. I'd be looking at places with spectacular beaches, glorious sunsets, luxury hotels, fine international dining, and plenty of sun and fun....I'd be looking for places like...
review »My husband and I went to Aruba as a stop on a Carnival Cruise in November 2007. We absolutely loved the island and are dying to get back for an extended stay. The weather was beautiful, the island was incredibly friendly and clean, and the nightlife was amazing. We did the Kookookunuku (spelling may be wrong, but it is a very odd word) party bus and had a blast. It was probably the most fun we've had as a couple. Aruba is overall a wonderful and welcoming place with plenty to see and do- from white sand beaches to shopping, to casinos, there is something for everyone.
I went to Aruba for the first time October of 08 with my 11 month twins and it was SO amazing! The Jeep tour to the natural pools was very scary for me and not worth it, but the snorkeling at de palms was super fun. The sunsets were breath taking and even with infants the beach was enjoyable too. We had SUPER weather until the third day when hurricane Omar hit (and they said Aruba NEVER has hurricanes, HA!) and we had to stay in for three days because of flooding and heavy winds and rain. Luckily the hotel still had activities so we were able to stay occupied when we wanted out of the room but...
