Looking for the perfect project for that 143 yards of orange-striped acrylic? Want to see everyone else's versions of the Jaywalker? Looking for other knitters who love the same webcomics you do? — Trust me: it's ALL on Ravelry. Be prepared to spend the time you've set aside for knitting here. You'll sign on, thinking you'll only spend a few minutes, looking for that perfect yarn--but then you find the forums, and you start looking at projects, and as soon as you know it it's the next morning and you forgot to sleep because of THE RAV. —… read full review »

Some Photos of that Day

Some Photos of that Day
Every day computer user, an art lover, into Independent Films, constantly online

JUN

2008
In March 1979, when Jamie Livingston was a student at Bard College, he started taking one photo a day. Using a Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera, he began a dad-by-day photographic journal that he kept until the day he died, in 1997. After his death, a couple of Livngston's friends gathered the photographs, which Livingston had dated and filed in chronological order, and put them on exhibit at Bard, the photographer's alma mater. As one would expect, there were a few dates without photos: maybe Livingston didn't get around to taking pictures on thse days. Maybe he did take photos, but they were lost… read full review »

Rick Piper Art

Rick Piper is a very, very talented artist with a fantastic vision.  He is truly my favorite artist and I really love his works.  His shop is in Cocoa Beach, Florida and located at 18 North Brevard Avenue in the Bailiwick Mall.  If you like his work, you can sign up to be on his email list where he will send you previews of his newest artwork (along with a discounted price for being on the email list).  I grew up on Cocoa Beach and Rick's artwork appeals greatly to me.  Please visit his website and check out all the beautiful items he creates. —  … read full review »

Dick Blick Art Materials

Dick Blick Art Materials

Dick Blick had exactly the thickness of chipboard I was looking for at a reasonable price.  The website was easy to use and the shipping was really fast.  The one thing I would like to see is a smaller size like 12 X 24 or 12 X 28 as the larger size is a little difficult to cut down to a workable size for scrapbooking. … read full review »

Illustration Friday

MAR

2008
I stumbled upon the Illustration Friday website through a friend's blog.  It took me a while to participate, but once I did I was so happy to have found such a wonderful new place to express myself artistically. — This website is dubbed" Illustration Friday" because every Friday, the site managers post a new "theme".  The theme is usually only one or two words, just enough to spark a thought.  Artists of all skill levels are then encouraged to create a work of art based on the theme of the week and share it on the website. — I am not always able to… read full review »

Many people will recognize the little Dick Blick logo man from their school days. This massive store has been around for ages, and not only caters to the artist but also schools. They have everything from professional artists materials and school/fun pack for children. They also carry an array of special needs products. Depending on what you are looking for their prices range from under a dollar to in the thousands. — — When I was attending the Art Institute I was required to have a wide range of materials, and being like many other college students I was broke. I shopped around… read full review »

FEB

I am sure there are some good aspects to poetry.com, but it is hard to find them among all the junk mail and spam. Everyone who submits to them receives mailings telling the writer how wonderful they are and promising all kinds of great awards and honors all of which cost money.  if you want to see your name in print, it is a good thing because they will publish you, but of course you have to buy the anthology if you want a copy of your printed work. — I am published by them and it is a pretty decent book, but  nothing that will ever get me real recognition because usually… read full review »

I was surfing around on the Internet one day and I was looking for different craft ideas.  Something new or something old to make, I just needed ideas.  — I came across "All Free Crafts" and let me tell you I was not expecting all the ideas that I found on this site. — I will be making my own bath and body scrubs and bath salts, I can learn to Crochet (something I have always wanted to learn (OH, new clothes for Scrappy (my cat)).
