Show It Off!
Artistful.com is currently still in its Beta mode, so it is always improving and changing things. Currently you can show off your art via your personal Gallery, where you display artwork and prints for sale, and your portfolio, where the rest of your artwork goes.
Selling Your Art
Artistful.com does get a portion of your print sales, but you can set the commission to up to 100% of the base price. They also charge 20% of your sale of original artwork. But, according to their FAQ, most other art websites will charge 50% of your sale.
What Qualifies As "Art"?
Anything! From illustrations, to paintings, jewelry, photograpy, scuptures and even apparel! There is also a section for "Everything Else" which includes stained glass, handmade journals/books, plaques and customized furniture. If you are an art buyer, you will likely find exactly what you need/want and more. I'm sure that if you, at least, fall in love with the style of someone's work, you can contact the artist and ask them to make you a custom piece.
Making Friends
You can connect with other members of the site by adding them as a "friend". You interact with other members and friends by sending them messages, joining or starting a group or groups on the website and leaving comments on their artwork. You can also leave them a note on their profile.
What I Love About Artistful.com
I found this site at a time when I was really needing the inspiration, positive encouragement and interaction with other artists. I haven't had this type of interaction for years. When I became a mom, I put my artistic career "on the shelf" and have been slowly going back to it and trying again to make something of myself. Especially now that I am no longer working, but staying home with my children. I'm believe I am going through a self-rediscovery. This website is helping me do so, even if I don't sell much of my work, I feel the interchange is the fuel I need to "step it up" and put some high-octane fuel into my artwork.
