Background The Art Institute of Chicago is a second home for me. Having gone since a small child, I know most of the collections inside and out. The Art Instuitute tries to make all forms of art accessible to everyone.  From art historians to kids, the exhibits cover almost any form of art you can imagine.  The Art Institue houses a world-renowned collection of fine art (paintings, sculpture, artifacts, etc.) from all major art movements, historical eras, and ends of the earth.  Whether you want to see Impressionist, Medieval, or Renaissance paintings, the collection is amazing.  The photograpy department exhibits prints of nature to everyday life.  The architecture department exhibits are like a history… read full review »

Going to the art museum isn' t something I would see myself doing, but when we recently had out of town guests, we went to the Art Institute, and I was amazed at the collection of famous artists - Monet, Seurat, Picasso, Rodin - things I only read about during my European history course.
