For years, I used a wok on my stovetop. I never liked the fact that the sides hung over the edge of the burner, making it hard to fit large pans on the surrounding burners. That is, until I got Aroma's Yan Can Cook Wok.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS WOK
The Wok body is made from heavy-duty cast metal, has a non-stick, scratch resistant surface and is dishwasher safe. I must admit, I have never actually ran it through the dishwasher but, it is really easy to hand wash.
I also like the size (8 quarts) as it is large enough to use as a steamer, make tempura in or a large stir-fry. It always heats up quickly, and more importantly, stays at the temperature until it is turned off. The glass lid is domed shaped and has an adjustable steam vent. I like the fact the lid is see-through and I am able to keep an eye on the food without having to lift it and look inside.
The Wok heating base has a large, easy to read temperature (up to 1500 watts) dial. The temperature probe, goes into the side of the base and is easily removed. The wok itself, is easily released from the detachable base making it possible to serve from it on at the table. It also has stay-cool handles which I REALLY like!
The Aroma Yan Can Cook YW-168 is black and comes with a few accessories (and a some recipes) to allow it to be used in multiple ways - a tempura draining rack, a pair of long chopsticks like spoons for cooking and a steaming rack.
Kristy's Final Viewpoint:
The Aroma Yan Can Cook YW-168 is a great wok! I have really grown to enjoy the fact that I can prepare a meal in the wok while it sits on the counter and check on it by looking through the clear lid. I also like being able to remove it from the base and serve from it at the table. I use it mostly for stir frying but the other night we used it as a second pan for tempura and it worked great!
I have given these Wok's as wedding gifts and to two friends who both love to cook. Since it can also be used to deep fry and steam food, it is sure to get a lot of use!
