This is an awesome rice cooker!

We go through a lot of rice in my household. Rice is so inexpensive and I can include it in or create many meals with it. Having the Aroma Rice Cooker and Food Steamer has made making rice and vegetables so much more convenient. I feel this rice cooker is a great value. It works really well for the price that I paid which was a lot less than other models out there. I love the fact that it will make up to 8-cups of rice. I have had other rice cookers that only made a few cups and it was never enough. Performance This Aroma Rice Cooker does a wonderful job of cooking rice to the perfect consistency. Ease of Cleaning This product is easy to clean and care for. Ease of Use This rice cooker is very easy to use. It is digital with push buttons to make different selections for rice and vegetables. Durability I have had this product for over a few years. It works just as well now as when it was new. It is put together well and is very durable.

Good product... great price

My overall rating for this rice cooker is an 8. I really enjoy using it. It is easy to use, cooks the rice perfectly, and it is easy to clean. From the beginner rice cooker, to an expert this one is priced well and durable. It looks nice as well. Performance Used this product many times over the years and probably only once has it not cooked the rice all the way through and that was probably due to operator error. Ease of Cleaning All I've ever had to do was quickly wipe out the removable metal cooker and wipe down the inside of the lid. It is really easy to wash the rice before cooking and then cleaning is incredibly easy after use. Ease of Use This machine is incredibly easy to use. You literally push a button to turn it on, and a button to cook the rice. Durability I've had mine for a few years now, used multiple times with multiple types of rice and I've never had any problems. I love it Design It's nice looking, clean looking and not too big. It fits on the counter without looking horrible.

This is my first and only rice cooker I've ever bought. Before this rice cooker, i would use a small rice cooker my aunt I gave me. But when you've company over you need s rice cooker that can make more than three cups of rice. I've also used and loved their steamer option with the steamer tray. I've steamed broccoli, potatoes and other veggies for my boyfriend and I. I've sreamed different vegetables for making homemade pureed baby food for my precious baby girl. I would have to say the only con would be it takes awhile to make the same amount of rice as i did with my small rice cooker for making two cups of rice. Also the amount of water I have to put into it is different too. Besides that, overall i love this rice cooker regardless if I've to wait a little longer. I would recommend this lovely rice cooker. I love the pop up lid when I press the button. I like the water collector section that you can pull out whenever you need to. I like how I can hide and tuck away the cord whenever I'm done using it.

So easy!

The Aroma digital rice cooker and food streamer is a great addition to any kitchen that also contains rice. If you ever cook rice, having a rice cooker sure beats keeping a very close eye on a pot of rice on the stove that invariably always seems to boil over and cause a mess. Maybe using a larger put would have eliminated or reduced some of those stove top rice cooking difficulties, but having a fairly inexpensive rice cooker she makes things significantly easier. Add rice and water, push a couple of buttons, and a short time later you have perfectly cooked rice. The only initial downside is having to figure out the rice/water ratio that you prefer most (and can vary slightly for different kinds of rice), but once you figure it out, it's very simple. This is a great kitchen appliance that does not take up much space and is a worthwhile purchase if you like to eat rice.

Works well, but spits

Rice is a staple in our house, we eat it at least twice a week, usually more. I like to make different varieties of rice and this cooker does well with all of them. It is very easy to pull out, measure rice and water into, and let it work. We never have problems with burning over undercooking. My ONLY issue is that it tends to "spit" rice-water out of the steam vent -- sometimes quite a lot. I usually put a dish towel behind the cooker as it is working to catch the spit-up and sometimes the towel gets completely soaked. I don't ever overfill the cooker, it does this even when I am cooking the bare minimum of rice. More a nuisance than anything else. I might look into other brands when we need to replace this one, but I don't think that will be anytime soon. Ease of Cleaning The actual cooking pot is very easy to remove and clean. I have trouble cleaning the lid, hinges and rim where it has "spit" water out during the cooking process. Because the water has rice protein in it, if you don't clean it right away it ferments and stinks. And no one wants to cook rice in a stinky cooker.

Perfect for rice or steaming fruits and veggies!

I originally got this cooker/steamer as a gift 3 years ago and only used it really to make rice. However, after my son's babyfood steamer died, I began to use it to also steam fruits and veggies for baby food. It does a great job at cooking both rice and fruits/vegtables in a quick amount of time. I have managed to only have a bad batch of rice once (I think I didn't put enough water in) and have never had an issue with fruits and veggies. It is easy to clean, and small enough that it doesn't take up too much space to store.

Makes nice rice quickly! Easy to clean, too!

As long as you're looking for something cheap and easy to use to consistently make rice quickly, this is the tool for you! I have been using my rice maker for quite a few months now and have found great joy in being able to make rice that is consistently cooked just right -- soft and moist without being sticky or overdone. It takes a bit more finesse to figure out cooking brown rice or steaming veggies, but the user guide is very helpful with suggested times and temperatures to get you going in the right direction. It's also easy to clean as long as you don't leave the rice sitting in the pot to dry out stuck to the edges (common sense when dealing with rice in general!).

Great low priced cooker

First off, this is a pretty low priced product so you are not gonna get rice as you would from an expensive zojirushi product. If you can get past that, the product works great. I think the worst thing about this product is that it does a pretty poor job is keeping the rice warm as it tends to burn it if you don't eat it fresh. However, the rice tastes good and it is extremely easy to operate as there are only two functioning buttons. All in all, I would recommend this product mainly because of the low price but also the value it offers.

Inexpensive time saver for my kitchen!

I have been very happy with this rice cooker. It was inexpensive and makes cooking rice a breeze! Performance This rice cooker performs very well, the only hassle is the steam has a lot of starch in it and puddles on the top of the cooker. It needs to be cleaned up immediately or you have a very sticky mess. Ease of Cleaning I just pop the inside pan into the dishwasher! The outside of the cooker is also easy to clean if you do it immediately after using the cooker. Otherwise the puddled starchy steam can get quite messy! Ease of Use Simple instructions for white or brown rice. Foolproof if you can measure water and rice! Durability I have had my cooker for 2 years and used it at least 35 times! We like homemade fried rice; rice casseroles; and rice with our chinese dishes. Very durable. Design Good design but it could be improved so the starchy steam could be controlled a bit. It can get on nearby things on your counter, so I pull it out away from other appliances.

The Aroma ARC-838TC 8-Cup Digital Cool Touch Rice Cooker and Food Steamer is an answer to my prayers. We eat a lot of rice in our house and I could never seem to produce a consistent product using the usual stovetop method of cooking rice. Luckily, Santa Claus knew what I needed and this product appeared under the Christmas tree. The product consists of the cooker itself along with a nonstick insert, a steamer basket, a nonstick soup ladle, a nonstick spoon and a plastic measuring cup. It is so easy to make rice with this product; all you do is measure rice into the nonstick pot, add water, push the button and wait for the chime to sound indicating that the rice is done. This cooker also has a warm mode that will keep the rice warm while you are finishing up the accompaniments to the rice. This is really useful because I have had occasional problems in the past with trying to keep the rice warm while finishing up another dish. You can also set the rice to cook earlier in the day and time it to be done at some point later in the day; very useful on busy days. Cleanup is very simple; just pull out the inner pot, wipe with a damp rag and replace in the cooker. The steamer basket looks simple to use as it rests at the top of the cooker with the water beneath. All of the instructions for steaming meats and vegetables are in the instruction booklet that accompanies the product. One caveat: I made quite a bit of rice and while it took about a half hour using the stovetop method; it took about one hour this way but the perfectly cooked rice made up for the wait. Overall, this is a great product and I highly recommend it.
