I don't understand why anyone would want to eat this stuff. I mean, it has no nutritional value, and only God knows what part of the leftover dead chickens and pigs gets processed and put in that can.  I can't even be in the same house if someone wants to open a can of canned meat. I mean, unless it is cat or dog food.

So I would suggest a nice healthy vegetarian alternative to this and Spam and hash and all the other horrors in a can.   If you are really that hungry, please have a peanut butter sandwich or some other healthy, cruelty free meal.  Eating this stuff will kill you.

Is this what you want to feed yourself or your family? Learn what they mean on those food labels.

 MECHANICALLY SEPARATED MEAT
is a paste-like and batter-like meat product produced by forcing bones with attached edible meat under high pressure through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat tissue. In 1982, a final rule published by FSIS on mechanically separated meat said it was safe and established a standard of identity for the food product. Some restrictions were made on how much can be used and the type of products in which it can be used. These restrictions were based on concerns for limited intake of certain components in MSM, like calcium. Due to FSIS regulations enacted in 2004 to protect consumers against Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, mechanically separated beef is considered inedible and is prohibited for use as human food. However, mechanically separated pork is permitted and must be labeled as "mechanically separated pork" in the ingredients statement.

MECHANICALLY SEPARATED POULTRY
is a paste-like and batter-like poultry product produced by forcing bones with attached edible tissue through a sieve or similar device under high pressure to separate bone from the edible tissue. Mechanically separated poultry has been used in poultry products since 1969. In 1995, a final rule on mechanically separated poultry said it would be used without restrictions. However, it must be labeled as "mechanically separated chicken or turkey" in the ingredients statement. The final rule became effective November 4, 1996.

I positively LOVE treet in a can. We slice it and fry it . Then eat it on toast with peanut butter, miracle whip, and lettuce. This is also how we eat our BLT,s. Only treet is alot cheaper than bacon. I grew up eating this in a house w/ 5 hungry boys and 3 girls. My problem now is that I can not find it in the stores where I live anymore. Kroger and Great Scot have both removed it from their shelves. I am very disappointed .Any one have any suggestions on where to find it?

Well since going vegan, I eat a lot more beans and rice. It is very cheap and a great source of protein. Buying packaged crap in a can is not the way to save money. Buying dry beans and soaking them is the cheapest, most filing and cruelty free meal you can have. I would never eat this crap, I don't care how bad things get, beans will always be a cheap source of a good filing meal, and what my parents ate a lot of growing up in the Depression. Give it a try, and stay healthy. Staying healthy is also good on the pocketbook as it cuts down on trips to the doctors and expensive treatments.

All packaged products have ingredients the eater is
not aware of fully. In a depression Treet & Spam will be staples, such as breakfast muffin sandwiches, Treet hot dogs and luncheon meat (Treet)grilled with cheese on hamburger buns. There will be fewer choices and these meals will be inexpensive & filling. Beats potatoes & skins as in
the 30's. So get undisgusted just in case??????????
