Arizona State University at the Tempe Campus Review Summary

Some like it hot, and for those prospective students looking to stay warm when they attend college, one place that is certainly going to push the limits of the mercury is Arizona State University- Tempe, the main branch of the Arizona State system. Arizona State University- Tempe is a very large university and its size makes it a good choice for students who want a university that has it all, from a large number of academic majors to nationally known athletics. Academically speaking, however, Arizona State University- Tempe is somewhat lacking in the minds of many reviewers who view this university as a party school more than a place for serious students. Arizona State University- Tempe is like “A City Within a School” and the consensus opinion is that it doesn’t have enough going for it to compare to other Colleges or Universities, except for the endless sunshine.

The first thing I noticed upon entering Arizona State University was the fact that for a school of 60,000+ students there was parking for maybe 20% of that and much of the parking is metered with a maximum time limit of 1 hour. Many of the professors I've had come to class totally unprepared for lectures often passing the responsibility on to equally unprepared teaching assistants. There are three campuses in the metro area and 1 more in Tucson which is solely for social work. There is no standardization between the schools meaning a bachelors in Social work at the Downtown phoenix campus is totally... read full review »

Alright, so we have hot girls?  Our parties are nationally reknown?  Seriously, if these are your reasons to go to this college then look elsewhere.  I'm sick of people saying how hot ASU girls are.  There are better girls just about anywhere else.  People at this school are fake, spoiled, uptight, hypocritical and self-centered.  The out of state ones are the worst though.  They couldn't get into USC, UCLA or SDSU so they come to ASU instead.  Plus, the administration is way too money hungry.  Since when did the President of ASU deserve a higher salary theh all but one of the Ivy League... read full review »

I do not like this campus because it is way to big and parking is horrible. Parking costs like $500 and you still have to walk a mile to get to class. Basically, this campus is great if you want to party and have the traditional college experience. However, if you are very serious about your education and desire a diverse environment you should go to the West campus.

This is one of the largest universities in the country. You need motivation and a self guide book. Otherwise you will get lost int the maze. This is a big party school. You will remember the parties. You will not remember the friendships or education at this school.

Arizona state is a fairly decent college. It's not exactly the best thing out there, but I think that education is what you make of it. If you commit yourself to studying at your fullest potential, you don't exactly need to go to the best college around.

I'm happy I went there, but minimal options for working adults that can only attend class at night.

ASU is an incredible school.  Yes, the students know how to have their fun, and there is nothing wrong with that.  But, academically ASU is solid.  Business School - Nationally ranked top 5, Journalism school - Nationally ranked top 5, Music program - Nationally ranked.  These are just a few of the programs at ASU that provide students with superior educations.  I am a serious student, but I like to have my fun.  ASU was an incredible fit for me.

ASU is a great university for serious students who want a big university challenge with the feel of a smaller town.  Even though it is located in a big city, the classes and student body are very student friendly.  The school offers a huge diversity of both on and off campus activities and has a wide variety of courses and curricular programs.  On top of a great atmosphere, the school and student services work to help prepare students to reach all of their academic and career goals.  By and large this school is a great place, in a great environment, with a great atmosphere.
