An affordable android tablet

4

This Achos 101 is the largest tabet in the family of Archoss tablets. It runs on Cortex A8 1 GHz CPU and is equipped with 3D OpenGL ES2.0 display. This high end tablet uses multi-touch capacitive 16:9 10.1 inch touchscreen. Users can play 720p vidoe on it easily. It has also a miniHDMI interface for video output. The speaker quality of this tablet is also very good. It is suprising that the speaker can deliver such sound quality with such a thin form factor. Physically, this tablet is very light, only 480 g. Its thickness is only 12 mm. As we know, this tablet loads with Android 2.2. A major drawback of this tablet is the memory. It only has about 240 MB. So if you open more than 3 apps, the tablet would be very slow. Nevertheless, if this happens, users can kill some apps under the system monitor. I think this tablet is still good in terms of the price performance ratio - it is cheaper than Apple's Ipad!

Archos Internet Tablet is Great!

4

We have had the Archos 101 Internet Tablet for about 2 months now. Originally I just was interested in an ebook reader, but this one has so many more features. I have a 10 month old that I still nurse and we plan on having more children. It's great that I can nurse my baby while checking emails or browsing the web, or reading a book or playing solitaire. When you're spending about four hours a day with a newborn on your lap you need something to keep you awake! We have not even begun to tap in to the many features available on the archos. Pros: Overall the archos is small but has a large screen, lightweight, many activity options with or without internet, supports various apps, supports many ebooks, ebooks are easy to read, will make the carry-on a LOT lighter while flying with kids. Great value for the price! Cons: Flash player isn't the best yet, hard to find a nice case to protect it, battery doesn't last really long, internet pages can load slowly If you want this primarily for reading I would get a slightly smaller screen. If you want it for internet and movies it's a good size.

Archos 101- Great Product with a few minor problems

4

This product is very good. I had a few problems with the firmware update, but it was right after Christmas. Everything worked well after that. The OS is very stable. The only complaint is that the kickstand well get very loose after a while. Overall this is a great product, it is worth buying.

Archos 101 - Outstanding tablet PC

4

We had wanted a way for my wife to be able to check email and do some web browsing while I was working from home and taking up the office.  An internet tablet seemed to be the best way to do that. We got the archos 101, and were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use.  The lack of built in access to the android market was annoying at first, but easy enough to work around. The video quality is awesome on it.  Web browsing is a snap.  The screen is extremely responsive.  The wifi is pretty good on it, the signal doesn't seem to be the strongest on it, unless you're only a room or two away from your wireless router.  But when you're in that range, the speed is great. The only downside I've noticed is the amount of RAM on it.  It only has 256 MB.  The speed of the device keeps up very well for most uses. I did just recently find one issue, which seems to be a flaw in the design.  If the battery drops too low, < 10%, then it doesn't seem to like to charge if its not in a warm room, < 65 degrees F.  To solve that, I found on various posts to wrap the device in a blanket while plugged in.  After a couple hours, the device was fully charged and ready to go. One other point about Archos is the misleading point that the device has flash 10.1.  The device does support it, but Adobe has not actually fully tested the devices, so there is no flash app for the device that is optimized for it.  The best you can get is the flash from the android market(after you sideload the market app), which works, but is laggy and choppy when watching most videos on the web.  Once flash 10.1 is released officially for the archos, it will be 10 times better.
