Arby's - Cheescake Poppers —

I think cheesecake is one of my most favorite desserts, so I was really excited when I heard Arby's was offering new cheesecake poppers.  I thought what could be better than a biteful of tasty cheesecake that could be eaten on the go, and at about $3 I thought it was a bargain.  I don't eat fast food much, but these new poppers sounded like the perfect reason to indulge.  Well, I was really disappointed.  I had no idea this was a fried dessert until I got to the restaurant and read the advertisement.  I still thought since I was there I needed to try them, and I shouldn't have.  Each serving is six poppers that look greasy on the outside.  Not the warm graham cracker coating I was expecting.  At the first bite, there was a crunch, and the oil that they were fried in masked all the flavor of the crust.  Inside was a gooey cheesecake center which was a little sweet, but tasted more like a pudding than a set cheesecake.  I tried the first popper plain and was not impressed.  The poppers do come with a tasty raspberry dip, which actually tastes like a fresh raspberry preserve and saved the poppers.  The raspberry sauce was just the right amount of fruit and sweet to make the poppers edible.  I was just disappointed by this dessert, and with about 300 calories and 15 grams of fat per serving, it is not worth it.
